Popular streamer IShowSpeed (Darren Watkins Jr.) had a huge birthday! He turned 21 and also reached 50 million subscribers – a major accomplishment for both his personal life and his career. Here’s the story of how he celebrated.
IShowSpeed now has 50M YouTube subscribers
While traveling in Africa, YouTube star IShowSpeed reached a major milestone: 50 million subscribers. This achievement puts him among the 100 most-subscribed channels on YouTube, according to Socialblade.
He hit the milestone while performing in Nigeria as part of the Speed Does Africa tour, and his fans were singing ‘Happy Birthday’ to him at the time.
Speed was overcome with emotion during his livestream when his chat celebrated a huge milestone: reaching 50 million followers. “This is the best birthday gift I could ever ask for,” he said, expressing his deep gratitude to his fans. “I love you all so much!” He emphasized that achieving 50 million was the perfect birthday present.
He then posted another picture of a cake online, decorated with flags representing all the places he’d visited on his world tour.
Speed received tons of birthday wishes, including a heartfelt message from Kai Cenat. Cenat wished Speed a happy 21st birthday, expressing his love and encouraging him to stay true to himself, positive, and brave. He also sent wishes for Speed’s safety and said he’d connect with him soon.
IShowSpeed reached one million subscribers on June 30, 2021, a moment he still highlights on his X profile. Since then, his channel has grown rapidly. He surpassed 10 million subscribers in July 2022, and by June 2024, he had 25 million. He continued to gain viewers quickly, reaching 47 million subscribers by the end of 2025.
That’s 3 million subs in the first three weeks of January 2026 alone.
Speed is currently traveling through Africa. His trip is expected to finish during the last week of January.
