New Masters of the Universe Action Figure Confirms Major Skeletor Upgrade

A new action figure might have revealed a big change for Skeletor in the upcoming Masters of the Universe movie. Recent images related to the toys suggest the main villain is getting a makeover, hinting at a different look for him in the film.

Skeletor’s Masters of the Universe action figure shows him riding a flying Roton

A post on X (formerly Twitter) by @HeManiaOfficial suggests that Skeletor will be flying a Roton in the new ‘Masters of the Universe’ movie. This idea comes from the artwork on the packaging for the upcoming ‘First Ones’ Core Roton toy. The post shares a picture of the toy packaging and implies a direct connection between the artwork and what will be seen in the film.

In the 1980s animated series, Eternia’s villains frequently used the Roton. Previously, Skeletor usually stayed at his fortress, Snake Mountain, directing his followers to fight for him. The show presented him as a frightening figure who preferred giving orders to actually fighting himself.

The packaging has been updated to show Skeletor riding the flying vehicle directly. The toy line is now called “First Ones,” and the vehicle itself is a Core Roton. The new artwork highlights Skeletor’s increased speed and agility.

Okay, so I just saw the new Masters of the Universe movie, and it’s… interesting. Jared Leto is taking on the role of Skeletor, which is a bold choice, and Nicholas Galitzine is stepping into the boots of He-Man. The supporting cast is solid too – Camila Mendes plays Teela, and Morena Baccarin is The Sorceress. It’s been a long road to get this film made, apparently Amazon MGM Studios finally picked it up after years of development attempts.

Ten-year-old Prince Adam arrives on Earth in a spaceship, but loses his magical Power Sword – his only link to his home planet, Eternia. After almost twenty years, he finds the sword again and travels back to space to protect Eternia from the evil Skeletor and his army.

The studio will release the film theatrically on June 5, 2026.
