Cause of death revealed for Victoria Jones, daughter of Tommy Lee Jones

It’s now known how Victoria Jones, the daughter of actor Tommy Lee Jones, died. She was found deceased in a San Francisco hotel on New Year’s Day, and the cause of death has been released after a little over a month.

The San Francisco medical examiner determined that a 34-year-old woman’s death on January 1st was accidental, caused by cocaine toxicity. She was found deceased at the Fairmont San Francisco hotel early that morning.

At 3:14 a.m., San Francisco police received a report of a death at a local hotel. When officers arrived, they found medical personnel already on scene who confirmed that an adult woman had died.

Jones tried acting for a short time, with a small role in “Men in Black II” (2002) and a part in “The Three Burials of Melquiades Estrada” (2005), a film directed by her father. Afterwards, she stepped away from public life and faced challenges with substance abuse.

Court documents show that in August 2023, her father asked the court to temporarily place her under his legal guardianship.

According to a copy of the legal petition obtained by the San Francisco Chronicle, she was held at a Greenbrae hospital for a 14-day involuntary psychiatric evaluation when the documents were filed, and her father was seeking a transfer to a rehabilitation center.

According to the legal request, the person needing a conservator is working on getting better and achieving sobriety. The petition argues that moving them from the hospital to a rehabilitation center is essential to prevent further, lasting damage.

In August 2023, Margaret Caron Schmierer was temporarily appointed to manage the affairs of a person named Jones. Jones, with the help of a lawyer, opposed this arrangement.

In December 2023, Tommy Lee Jones successfully petitioned the court to end the conservatorship, according to official records.

In 2025, Jones was arrested twice in Napa County.

Court records indicate she faced several misdemeanor charges. On April 26th, she was accused of being under the influence, possessing narcotics, and hindering a police officer. Later, on June 13th, she was charged with domestic battery. She entered a plea of not guilty to all charges, and these cases were still ongoing when she passed away.

I was so saddened to hear about the loss of Jones. She was the daughter of Tommy Lee and his former wife, Kimberlea Cloughley, and leaves behind her brother, Austin. It’s just heartbreaking.

Tommy Lee Jones is a celebrated actor, famous for his Oscar-winning performance as U.S. Marshal Sam Gerard in “The Fugitive” (1993). He’s also well-known for roles like Agent K in “Men in Black” (1997) and Sheriff Ed Tom Bell in “No Country for Old Men” (2007).
