Shirley Ballas shows off her house makeover after giving it a ‘total refresh’ amid fears she has quit Strictly

Shirley Ballas proudly showed off her London house after giving it a revamp.

Shirley Ballas, the head judge on Strictly Come Dancing, has been in the news this week with reports suggesting she may not be back for the next season, as she’s taken on a new job with a competing program.

Honestly, everyone’s been buzzing about everything else, but I was SO relieved to see Shirley finally post about what really matters – the renovations! She shared a peek at her living room and kitchen progress on Tuesday, and it was exactly what I needed to see. I’ve been obsessively checking for updates, and seeing even a little bit of progress made my day!

Shirley shared before-and-after photos showing her home makeover, explaining that she had her walls professionally repainted and her kitchen cabinets updated.

As a lifestyle expert, I always say a home should tell a story, and Shirley’s lounge definitely did! It was filled with wonderful memories of her dancing career – shelves were overflowing with trophies and awards, and the area around the fireplace was covered in framed photos, creating a really personal and charming space. It felt like stepping into her history!

The kitchen had cream cabinets and a marble island which gave it a modern feel.

She added: ‘A total refresh, just what mum and I need’.

Shirley lives with her 88-year-old mother, Audrey, and acts as her full-time carer.

The Strictly judge took her mother in about four years ago to provide care, largely because her mother was struggling with COPD, a lung disease.

As a lifestyle expert, I often talk about prioritizing lung health, and unfortunately, many people deal with COPD, or Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease. It’s a serious condition where airflow to the lungs gets blocked, and sadly, it gets worse over time. This leads to ongoing issues like feeling constantly short of breath, a cough that just won’t quit, and that whistling sound when you breathe – what we call wheezing. It’s really important to be aware of these signs and talk to your doctor if you’re experiencing them.

As reported this week, Shirley will be traveling to the United States to appear in a spin-off of “Dancing With The Stars,” the American version of “Strictly Come Dancing.”

Shirley will be joining the panel in the US, and her son, Mark Ballas – who previously competed on the ABC series – will be there with her.

Mark, a three-time champion on Dancing With The Stars after appearing on the show from 2007 to 2023, will team up with Shirley to search for a new professional dancer in a new series, according to The Sun.

Robert Irwin, son of the late Steve Irwin, known as The Crocodile Hunter, will host the upcoming series, as first revealed by Reality Steve.

As a huge fan, I’m really excited about the spin-off, but I’m a little worried about when they’ll actually start filming. There’s a chance it could overlap with the regular Strictly schedule, which runs from September to December, and that would be a nightmare! Hopefully, they can work it out so both shows aren’t filming at the same time.

The Daily Mail have contacted the BBC and Shirley’s representative for comment.

People immediately went to social media to share their thoughts about the news, wondering if Shirley would be leaving Strictly Come Dancing because of her new job.

Someone commented on Reddit, saying it’s very interesting and speculating whether she might leave ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ to join the American version, ‘Dancing With The Stars’.

Someone else suggested she wouldn’t quit the show unless there was significant conflict with her partner. Another person speculated she might take a short break, similar to Bruno, and be temporarily replaced by a guest judge.

Shirley will be joining Dancing With The Stars, continuing a tradition started by former Strictly Come Dancing judges Len Goodman and Bruno Tonioli.

Both of the former panellists waved goodbye to the BBC show to appear on the American series.

Shirley Ballas, a celebrated ballroom dancer known as the ‘Queen of Latin’, became the head judge after Len Goodman retired in 2017, following a career that continued until his death in 2023.

She shares her son, Mark, with her ex-husband, Corky Ballas, a professional dancer who brought him up immersed in the world of competitive dance.
