‘Highlander’ BTS Images Find Henry Cavill Blood-Soaked

After a long wait, the reboot of the classic film Highlander is finally in production, and it promises plenty of action. Chad Stahelski, the director behind John Wick, is leading the project, bringing a fresh take to the story of an immortal warrior battling others like him throughout history. Filming is currently underway in London, and early glimpses of the movie are already exciting fans.

New photos and videos from the Highlander set show Henry Cavill riding a motorcycle with a significant head injury. He then walks toward St. Paul’s Cathedral, which appears to be serving as the location for The Watchers’ headquarters – a hidden group that monitors the lives of immortal beings.

I noticed Henry Cavill seemed to be limping in the new footage, and it got me thinking. While it could be something his character does – though immortals are supposed to heal fast, right? – it might mean he’s still recovering from that training injury he got while filming Highlander last September. But honestly, from everything we’ve seen, nothing’s going to stop him from taking the lead in this reboot, and I’m so excited!

Henry Cavill Will Face Off With Dave Bautista in ‘Highlander’

The new Highlander film is directed by Chad Stahelski, known for John Wick, and written by Kerry Williamson and Mike Finch. It boasts a star-studded cast led by Henry Cavill, who will be joined by Russell Crowe – his Man of Steel co-star – taking on the role originally played by Sean Connery. Other cast members include Karen Gillan and Djimon Hounsou, both known for their work in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, along with Marisa Abela (from Industry), Max Zhang (Blades of the Guardians), Jeremy Irons (Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice), and Dave Bautista (Dune), who will play the villain, The Kurgan.

Highlander does not yet have a release date but will be released by Amazon MGM Studios. While plot details haven’t been officially revealed, the reboot is expected to follow a similar plot to the 1986 original, which centers on swordsman Connor MacLeod as he discovers that he is one of a number of immortal warriors. After living somewhat peacefully for several centuries, MacLeod settles in New York City and is soon dragged back onto the battlefield when his greatest enemy returns to kill him. A leaked synopsis seemingly confirms this, while also hinting that the reboot will add details from Highlander: The Series. You can check it out below…
