Netflix devastates fans by axing hit show despite four more seasons planned

Netflix viewers were shocked and disappointed to learn that the anime series Terminator Zero has been canceled, even though the show was originally planned to run for four seasons. The series, which debuted in 2024, takes place in 1997 Tokyo and centers on scientist Malcolm Lee and his creation of Kokoro, an AI system intended to rival Skynet.

On the eve of the apocalypse, Malcolm and his kids are on the run from a relentless robot killer. Luckily, a soldier sent from the future—2022, to be exact—is assigned to keep them safe.

The show, created by Mattson Tomlin, has been canceled after only one season, much to the dismay of its viewers.

Tomlin shared the news on Twitter/X, confirming the show had been “cancelled”.

The show received fantastic reviews and viewers who saw it loved it, but unfortunately, not enough people tuned in, according to its creator.

I originally envisioned a larger ‘Future War’ storyline spanning seasons two and three, but I’m ultimately satisfied with how the story works as a self-contained arc.

Tomlin announced that all the scripts for the second season are complete and expressed his desire to continue the show, potentially in a new way.

He mentioned that he once had detailed plans for the show to last five seasons and that the series finale was actually something he’d proposed early on when trying to get the job.

“I’ve written all of the season two scripts and outlined pretty much all of season three.”

I loved it, and I was really happy so many people enjoyed it as much as I did.

Fans were quick to throw their supported behind the series after Netflix pulled the plug on it.

I absolutely loved the show! It really reminded me of the feel of Terminator and Terminator 2. I’m so bummed it won’t be back for another season, it’s really disappointing to hear it’s been cancelled.

Wow, this season was absolutely incredible! As a huge Terminator fan, I can honestly say it’s one of the best things to happen to the franchise in years. It really blew me away!

Someone expressed disappointment that Terminator Zero on Netflix won’t be continuing. They enjoyed the show, which premiered in August 2024, and thought it had a compelling story and a realistic feel.

“Shame. It was the best media this franchise has produced in 20 years,” was another comment.

One fan expressed disappointment that the show Terminator had been cancelled, saying, “It’s really unfair to the fans, yet again.” They hoped another streaming service like Amazon might rescue the series and allow the creators to finish their plans, adding, “I really enjoyed the show.”

Terminator Zero is streaming on Netflix.
