Mattson Tomlin hypes up The Batman Part 2 in latest update

A fan shared their excitement for the upcoming Batman sequel on X (formerly Twitter). They acknowledged that Hollywood has sometimes mishandled popular franchises, but praised the first Batman film as surprisingly well-made and perfectly executed.

Mattson Tomlin explained that he and director/co-writer Matt Reeves put a lot of effort into creating a story that did justice to the character. He hinted the story would be fresh and excitingly unpredictable.

He said expectations for the film were incredibly high, and he’s eager for audiences to finally see it and talk about it at length. He finished by saying the film is deeply meaningful to him.

Tomlin’s statements could be connected to reports that Marvel actors Sebastian Stan and Scarlett Johansson will appear in the movie. Stan is believed to be playing Harvey Dent, who later becomes the villain Two-Face, and Johansson is rumored to be portraying Dent’s wife, Gilda.

Jeff Sneider reported on The Hot Mic podcast, based on his sources, that Gilda would have a more significant part in the movie than Harvey. He also indicated the story would draw from multiple Batman comics and storylines.

Just weeks after Colin Farrell, who plays Penguin, complimented the script for the sequel, director Matt Reeves shared details about the film. “The Batman – Part Two” is scheduled to hit theaters on October 1, 2027, with filming expected to begin in late April or early May of 2026.
