Fans are amazed by the incredible physical transformation of Married At First Sight’s Alessandra Rampolla.

The sexologist, now 51, looks very different in an old photo that’s been shared online. The picture was taken before she lost 60 kilograms (around 132 pounds).

Alessandra recently posted on social media a video showcasing her weight loss progress since having gastric bypass surgery in 2006.

This collection of clips from Alessandra’s television work over the past twenty years shows her evolution into the personality Australian fans recognize from her appearance on Married at First Sight, which began in 2021.

Instagram users have been commenting on before-and-after photos, and many say they prefer the reality star’s previous appearance.

‘I liked it better when she was more voluptuous, like Sophia Vergara just saying,’ posted one fan.

‘Oh wow, she was even more beautiful back in the day,’ gushed another. 

One person commented that she looked genuinely beautiful in the ‘before’ picture and good in the ‘after’ picture, adding that beauty isn’t just about weight or body size.

Oh my gosh, you won’t BELIEVE this, but Alessandra actually told everyone in 2023 that she had surgery to get rid of extra skin! I was so proud of her for being so open about it, and it just proves how amazing she is. It was reconstructive surgery, which is incredible, and honestly, she looks even more stunning now. I’ve followed her for years, and this just cemented her as my ultimate idol!

During an Instagram Live session, she shared that while in Colombia, she consulted with a surgeon about potential cosmetic surgery to alter her appearance.

‘Fourteen years after the fact I’m finally taking care of that,’ she laughed.

I was considering reconstructive surgery to address some loose skin, but after really thinking things through, I decided it wasn’t the right path for me right now. It’s all about making choices that feel best for your body and your overall well-being, and sometimes that means reassessing your initial ideas.

I started in May and plan to keep going until early next year, after we finish filming the current season of Married at First Sight.

She explained that the surgery will help her emotionally heal from the experiences that led to her weight gain, bringing a sense of completion to that difficult chapter.

Alessandra told 9Entertainment that the experience was ‘completely life-changing,’ but she was surprised to see some critics express open anger about her weight loss.

People kept asking me why my weight had changed. First, they questioned why I was overweight, and then they wondered why I had lost weight, saying, ‘Why did you get so thin?’

It’s impossible to make everyone happy, and that wasn’t my goal. I was just really shocked by how many people reacted negatively, especially since I made the decision for my own health.

Alessandra described the surgery – which changes the stomach and small intestine – as a truly amazing experience.
