EastEnders star Joseph Millson, 51, reveals he’s engaged to girlfriend Lilli Fichtner, 32, a year after his split from his wife of 12 years

Joseph Millson is getting married again! He recently announced he’s engaged to his girlfriend, Lilli Fichtner. This will be his third marriage.

Taking to Instagram over the weekend, the EastEnders actor, 51, revealed his happy news. 

Joseph shared that he’s fallen in love again with Lilli, who is almost twenty years younger than him. This came a year after his divorce from his wife of twelve years, Sarah Jane Potts.

The actor who played Jason James on the BBC soap opera shared a heartfelt message, starting with a quote from Wordsworth: “Surprised by joy.” He explained that he once thought he was too hurt to ever fall in love again, and that it would take someone truly special to change his mind and bring joy back into his life.

Then I met Lilli, a truly remarkable woman. She was kind, intelligent, talented, beautiful, patient, funny, and deeply human.

While everyone focuses on commercial aspects of Valentine’s Day, I prefer to remember the original Saint Valentine, who bravely performed secret marriage ceremonies in ancient Rome. True love requires bravery, and I’m all for it.

Lilli, a 32-year-old actress from Germany, shared a picture of her stunning diamond engagement ring, but explained that the proposal took place at Christmas.

She wrote: ‘He said yes! (and so did I)’. 

Fans offered their congratulations to the couple on their exciting news. One message read: ‘Congratulations! You’ve overcome a lot, and deserve all the happiness in the world.’

‘Love everything about this. Much joy and love always to you both!’.  

The couple publicly confirmed their relationship on Instagram last April, shortly after his divorce from actress Sarah was finalized.

Joseph and Sarah first connected while working on the BBC show Holby City, where they played a couple on screen – Luc Hemingway and Eddi Nicholls. They got married in 2013.

They separated in 2024 and finalised their divorce last year after 12 years of marriage.

Joseph and Caroline Fitzgerald were married from 1999 to 2011 and have two children together: a daughter named Jessie and a son named Gabe.

He’s best known for appearing in Holby City, the Doctor Who series The Sarah Jane Adventures, and The Last Kingdom.

Joseph also appeared as MI6 agent Carter in the 2006 James Bond film Casino Royale.
