Emmett J Scanlan, a star in the hit crime drama MobLand, says the show’s second season will be even stronger. Scanlan, who appeared in the first season of the Guy Ritchie series, shared this update while promoting his new Netflix film, How to Get to Heaven from Belfast.
According to actor Scanlan, if you enjoyed the first season of MobLand, written by Jez Butterworth, you’re in for a treat with season two. He described it as a bigger, more intense version of what you already loved. “It’s absolutely wild,” he told Hello!, adding that he enjoyed the first season’s writing and world-building, but believes the new scripts are even better.
When MobLand premiered on Paramount+ in March 2025 in the US, UK, Canada, and Australia, a remarkable 2.2 million viewers watched the first episode. This made it the biggest global series launch for the streaming service up to that point.

Given how popular MobLand became and the shocking ending of its first season, it wasn’t surprising when the show was renewed for a second season.

This intense crime drama focuses on two feuding families in London: the Harrigans and the Stevensons. Tom Hardy plays Harry Da Souza, a man tasked with stopping a full-scale war between them.
The crime drama MobLand featured a star-studded cast led by Tom Hardy, alongside Helen Mirren and Pierce Brosnan as the leaders of the Harrigan family. The ensemble also included Emmett J Scanlan, Joanne Froggatt (known for Liar), Paddy Considine (House of the Dragon), Jasmine Jobson (Top Boy), Geoff Bell (King and Conqueror), and Mandeep Dhillon (After Life).

In September 2025, Sophie Froggatt, who plays Harry Da Souza’s wife, announced that filming for the second season of MobLand would start the next month. She told MovieWeb she was excited to return.
I absolutely loved it,” Froggatt said. “The script and the character were fantastic, and the cast was incredible. I feel very lucky to have been a part of it. I really enjoy playing Jan; I’d always hoped to play a character connected to the criminal underworld, and this role was perfect.
