Rupert Grint has shared how becoming a father for the second time, to a child with Georgia Groome, has been a challenging and sometimes difficult experience, leaving him feeling isolated and overwhelmed.
Actor Rupert Grint, known for playing Ron Weasley in the Harry Potter films, has two daughters: Wednesday, age five, and Goldie, who is ten months old. He shares them with his partner, Georgia.
He recently opened up about the challenges of fatherhood, admitting he often worries about being a good parent.
He admitted to The Hollywood Reporter that he was worried about the risks and the possibility of his baby being harmed or developing health issues, especially during Wednesday’s pregnancy. He specifically acknowledged experiencing those fears.
The first few months can be surprisingly lonely. It’s awful when something that should be wonderful instead feels upsetting and difficult.
As a lifestyle expert, I’ve always admired couples who prioritize privacy, and Rupert and Georgia are a perfect example. They’ve been together since 2011 – that’s over a decade! – but they’ve intentionally kept their relationship very low-key. You probably know Georgia from her fantastic role in ‘Angus, Thongs and Perfect Snogging,’ but they both really value keeping things private, which I think is lovely.
In a 2021 interview with Glamour, the actor described their relationship with Georgia as a close friendship, explaining they have a lot in common and often think alike.
It’s always been a successful combination, which is why it’s endured. It’s difficult to say precisely what makes it work, but it does, and it’s fantastic.
Rupert was the first of the core three Potter child stars to become a parent.
The couple welcomed their daughter, Wednesday, in May 2020. Six months later, Rupert joined Instagram and publicly announced her name.
Rupert Grint finally joined Instagram, sharing an adorable photo of himself with his daughter and jokingly apologizing for being ‘only 10 years late’ to the platform.

Daniel Radcliffe, known for his role in Harry Potter, and his partner Erin Drake had their first child in April 2023.
After his daughter was born on Wednesday, Rupert confessed he’s been anxious as a new dad, often finding himself checking to make sure she’s breathing while she sleeps.
In a 2021 interview with Entertainment Tonight, he described the first night as frightening, explaining he couldn’t sleep and kept checking to make sure his baby was breathing.
I’ve always had trouble sleeping. When I was growing up, I often heard stories about people passing away peacefully in their sleep, which made me think of sleep as something scary and risky.
Honestly, becoming a dad to my daughter with Georgia has completely shifted my focus. It’s truly become the most important thing in my life, and it’s changed how I see everything.
Becoming a father has completely shifted how I see things. Experiencing that kind of loss – and becoming a dad later in life gave me a real understanding of its impact on a family – is truly unimaginable.
