After being delayed due to football coverage, Siobhan Finneran will finally appear in tonight’s episode of Death in Paradise. She’ll be acting alongside her partner, Don Gilet, who plays DI Mervin Wilson. Interestingly, the current case puts their characters on opposing sides of a murder investigation.
In the third episode, Sarah Lancashire, known for her role in Happy Valley, plays Fleur Edwards, a quirky artist who becomes entangled in a murder investigation. Her neighbor, Henry Carpenter (played by Aneirin Hughes), is found shot dead, and Fleur quickly becomes a suspect. Despite being home at the time of the shooting, and having only moved to Saint Marie three months earlier seeking artistic inspiration, she’s drawn into the case.
Before the latest episode aired, a short preview (shared by Radio Times) offered a glimpse of trouble for Fleur. It showed a tense conversation between Fleur and the detectives, DI Mervin and DS Naomi Thomas (Shantol Jackson). DS Thomas suspects Fleur is concealing something, and Fleur responds with a playful remark: “All I’m guilty of, detectives, is bruising Henry’s delicate ego.” However, Mervin makes it clear he doesn’t buy her explanation.

This isn’t the first time Siobhán Gilet and David Finneran have shared the screen. They first worked together on the 2017 ITV drama The Loch (also known as Lochness), which is currently available on ITVX and Netflix – and that’s where they reportedly started their relationship.
This six-episode show centers around police officer Annie Redford (Laura Fraser) and her direct partner, Lauren Quigley (Finneran), as they work together to solve a series of murders. Gillian Anderson plays Blake Albrighton, a psychological expert who helps with the investigations.

Gilet discussed their recent work together on Death in Paradise during an appearance on This Morning. He said that Finneran really enjoyed the experience and it was wonderful working with her. He then playfully added that she’s greatly improved, noting a newfound calmness and presence she brings to her performances since they started working together, something he feels is unteachable.
Those who enjoy Finneran’s work can anticipate her next movie, Chatlines, a British LGBTQ+ sci-fi film that’s been described as similar to Black Mirror.
The film Chatlines, set in 2027, centers on Jordan, a man in his thirties who is living with terminal cancer. As he nears the end of his life, Jordan develops a strong connection with another seriously ill man named Danny, and they connect through an app that simulates the year 2005.
You can now watch the fifteenth season of Death in Paradise on BBC One every Friday. All seasons of Death in Paradise, along with its spin-offs Beyond Paradise and Return to Paradise, are currently available to stream on BBC iPlayer.
