Jason Oppenheim, who stars in and produces Selling Sunset, and his girlfriend Jessica Vargas have broken up after a year and a month together. The split was announced on Sunday, just after they attended a wedding in Honolulu for Saskia Iha at the Halekulani Hotel.
Jason Oppenheim, 48, is 25 years older than someone he employs, and they have ended their romantic relationship.
‘Yes, we broke up almost two weeks ago,’ Vargas confirmed to the Daily Mail on Sunday.
‘We wanted a chance to speak with friends and family before going public with the news.’
Oppenheim shared on Instagram Stories that he and his ex still care deeply for each other and remain close friends. The other half of the former couple posted a message saying she loves him and hopes everyone can experience a friendship like theirs.
The real estate broker, known for being in his fifth generation in the business, shared with People magazine on Sunday that his top priority is having Vargas in his life. Vargas reciprocated, saying they share a deep love that will endure, and that remaining close is what they both want.
The real estate agent finished by saying he was a wonderful person with a very kind heart, and she was thankful for him.
Oppenheim and Vargas, though they lived in separate homes, first appeared as a couple on the red carpet at the premiere of The Accountant 2 on April 16th. They then confirmed their relationship on Instagram five days later.
Just last January 9th, the former attorney and the owner of Floral LA Fairy publicly marked their one-year anniversary since their first kiss, expressing their intention to continue their relationship.
On December 2nd, Oppenheim revealed on the Pretty Dirty podcast that he intends to marry, even though he previously told Vargas he wouldn’t consider marriage until he was in his 60s.
‘You don’t need 60 years with someone,’ the NoCal native explained.
People used to get married much younger – in their late teens, even. Considering that, and the average life expectancy at the time, it feels like getting married was a long time ago – almost like I got married a century ago!
Honestly, it’s just wild to think about how different things used to be! Like, back in my great-grandparents’ day – maybe 80 or 100 years ago – people didn’t even expect to live past 55! That whole ’til death do us part’ thing was… shorter, you know? Now we’re talking 60-year marriages, sometimes even longer! It’s amazing how much life expectancy has changed, and it totally makes you think about what ‘forever’ even means now.
Jason Oppenheim has previously been in relationships with several people he worked with, including Chrishell Stause in 2021, Nicole Young in the early 2010s, and Mary Fitzgerald Bonnet from 2014 to 2015. He also dated model Marie-Lou Nurk between 2022 and 2023.
It’s worth noting that the first-generation Latina never appeared on Selling Sunset.
Adam DiVello created the popular Netflix series Selling Sunset, which led to the creation of its spin-offs: Selling the OC, Selling the City, and Selling Tampa.
This UC Berkeley graduate runs a successful real estate firm that has closed over $3 billion in sales. The company has offices in West Hollywood, Newport Beach, San Diego, and Cabo San Lucas.
The Daily Mail also reached out to Oppenheim’s representative for comment.
