Daniel Radcliffe makes a rare comment about life as a dad to his ‘incredibly sweet’ son

Daniel Radcliffe recently opened up about being a dad, calling his son a ‘really sweet’ kid.

The 36-year-old actor has been with actress Erin Darke, 41, since 2012; the couple has been together for a long time.

The couple had a baby boy in April 2023 and has chosen to keep him out of the public eye.

In a new interview, the Harry Potter star opened up about fatherhood in an unusually candid moment.

He recently shared with Rolling Stone how fatherhood has impacted him, saying he’s become much more emotional and finds himself crying more often – and he considers it a positive change.

‘I see him being incredibly joyful, and it just transforms you. 

‘It’s the first time I’ve watched someone laugh so much that it has made me cry.’ 

Daniel and Erin first met on the set of 2013 American biographical drama film Kill Your Darlings.

In 2024, the British actor won his first Tony Award, taking home the prize for Best Featured Actor in a Musical for his work in Merrily We Roll Along. He also briefly shared personal details about his partner, Erin, and their son during his acceptance speech.

With tears in his eyes, Darke listened as he declared his love for Erin and their son, telling them they were the best thing that had ever happened to him, and expressing his deep gratitude.

He added: ‘Thank you so much. Okay, I’m going to just talk fast and try not to cry.’

Daniel and Erin welcomed their first child in May 2023. Photos published by DailyMail.com showed them strolling with their newborn in New York City.

A spokesperson for the Harry Potter star confirmed the happy news.

The couple, who have been together for more than ten years, are overjoyed to be expecting a baby.

A source told The Sun that Daniel is thrilled about becoming a father and that he and Erin have a wonderful relationship, with many believing they’ll be fantastic parents.

‘They have kept it pretty quiet up until now but she can’t hide her bump anymore.’

Daniel recently told People magazine about meeting his co-star, Erin, on set in 2020. He joked that they’ll have a funny story to tell their children someday, referencing a particularly intimate scene they filmed together.

He explained that their characters were getting to know each other and developing a playful, romantic connection, capturing the excitement of a first encounter.
