Archie Madekwe, the actor from Saltburn and Gran Turismo, recently shared a story about a truly awful audition he did for Game of Thrones. He talked about the embarrassing experience while appearing on The Jonathan Ross Show on Saturday, February 14th.
Madekwe shared that he auditioned for Game of Thrones several times. He recalled one audition when he was younger, walking into the casting office feeling excited, but immediately noticing and wondering why the room smelled so bad.
Walking into the audition room, I was overwhelmed by the intensity. It was actually making me feel unwell and a little nauseous.

The day felt really odd. I went to a party, and when someone asked how my day was going, I suddenly remembered a terrible smell. I’d stepped in dog poop and tracked it all over the office – I can’t believe I didn’t notice! To top it off, I didn’t get the job I auditioned for.
Okay, so Emmanuel Madekwe didn’t end up on Game of Thrones, but I was so excited to see him acting alongside Sophie Turner – you know, Sansa Stark! – in this new Prime Video movie called Steal. It’s awesome to see them together!

In the film Steal, Turner plays Zara, a seemingly normal office worker unexpectedly caught up in a massive heist. Madekwe stars as Luke, Zara’s close friend.
The new series Steal features Jacob Fortune-Lloyd, known for The Queen’s Gambit, and was created by Sotiris Nikitas. Nikitas drew inspiration from his own experiences working in the financial world, using his former workplace as the setting for the drama.
While on Ross’ sofa, Archie Madekwe revealed he’d only gotten his driver’s license a week before starting work on Gran Turismo. He’d been taking driving lessons at night while still filming Saltburn.

He mentioned he hadn’t driven in a while, explaining that living in London means he doesn’t need a car. He added that the experience had discouraged him from wanting to drive again.
“I was taught by the secret Top Gear Stig, he taught me how to drive properly.”
You can watch The Jonathan Ross Show on ITV1 on Saturday evenings, and episodes are also available on ITVX. The movie ‘Steal’ is currently available to stream on Prime Video.
The latest issue of Living Legends, a vibrant, full-colour 100-page tribute to Taylor Swift, is now available! You can purchase it for only £8.99 at newsagents or online.
