Keeley Hawes shares loved-up snaps with husband Matthew Macfadyen as she celebrates her 50th birthday on a peaceful spa weekend

Keeley Hawes and her husband, Matthew Macfadyen, enjoyed a romantic spa getaway to celebrate her 50th birthday, and she looked absolutely delighted.

On Saturday, the actress shared romantic photos on Instagram, celebrating a special occasion.

Matthew, 51, quickly kissed Keeley on the cheek while they took a selfie, then headed out for a fast-paced walk in the snow.

She shared that turning 50 was the best birthday she’s ever had, and expressed her gratitude for the lovely wishes from her wonderful family and friends who made the day so memorable.

Keeley and Matthew are known for having a remarkably solid marriage. They first met on the set of the show Spooks 23 years ago, in 2002.

Last October, Keeley and her husband celebrated their 21st wedding anniversary. She shared a series of sweet photos on Instagram, which became one of her most popular posts, and wrote a heartfelt message: ’21 years. No notes. Love you with all my heart.’

You know, people always ask me about long-term relationships, and honestly, 21 years doesn’t feel like 21 years when you’re genuinely enjoying yourself. I’ve found that the biggest secret is simply relaxing and letting things flow as you get older – it makes everything so much easier and more enjoyable.

After 21 years of marriage, it’s normal to have some ups and downs, and we’re generally very content.

She explained that the key to their long-lasting relationship is focusing on the small things. Now that their children have grown and left home, they prioritize spending quality time together, especially through travel and simply being present for one another.

Their relationship wasn’t always easy, and Matthew has even described the moment he first fell for Keeley as a difficult one.

Keeley, then 26 years old, had recently married DJ Spencer McCallum, and together they have a 25-year-old son named Myles.

In a 2005 interview with the Mail On Sunday, Matthew admitted he was deeply troubled when he met Keeley, as he quickly developed feelings for someone who was already married.

He admitted he’d developed feelings for her, which was difficult because it wasn’t a sudden thing, nor was it an affair. He simply became aware of the strong effect she had on him, describing her as stunning – something he said everyone notices when they meet her.

Keeley and Matthew initially became friends, and she maintains that their relationship didn’t become romantic until after her divorce. She jokes that people might assume they had an affair, but insists that wasn’t the case.

Keeley described the first time Matthew told her he loved her as a sweet, direct moment. He simply blurted it out during a rainy day, which she found a little surprising but endearing.

Keeley’s divorce from Spencer was finalized in 2004, but the two remain good friends. She explained they were best friends before getting married and have successfully maintained that close relationship.

Fortunately, my husband and my ex-husband have a great relationship. They’re both kind and giving, not only to each other but also to our children.

In November 2004, she wed Matthew after the pair eloped.

Matt remembered that they each called a friend to come as witnesses, and people brought disposable cameras to take photos.

‘I read a poem and Keeley cried her eyes out. It was wonderful and romantic.

I felt like everything was falling into place when Keeley and I were expecting our daughter. It was a wonderful time – we were planning our wedding, I was turning thirty, and we were about to become parents, all close together.

The couple had their first child, a daughter named Maggie, the next month. Their son, Ralph, was born two years later in 2006.
