Casey Wasserman, a prominent figure in sports and entertainment and the public face of the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics, is planning to sell his talent agency, Wasserman.
In a letter to his team on Friday, Wasserman admitted that his name appearing in newly released documents about Jeffrey Epstein and Ghislaine Maxwell had caused unwanted attention and was proving to be a problem.
In a memo seen by the Times, Wasserman expressed his sadness that a short interaction he had with them 23 years ago has recently caused difficulties for them, the company, and its customers.
Representatives for Wasserman did not immediately return for requests for comment.
Wasserman apologized to her team, saying she was truly sorry that her past personal issues had caused them distress. She explained that it wasn’t right to put them – or the clients and partners they work hard for – in that position.
Music
Following the release of the Epstein files, Casey Wasserman is under pressure from employees and artists to resign. While he hasn’t addressed the internal disruption, experts believe his company may soon launch a separate music division.
I’ve been really surprised to see some big names like Chappell Roan and even Abby Wambach announcing they’re leaving Wasserman, the talent agency Casey Wasserman started over 20 years ago. It’s been happening over the last couple of weeks, and it’s definitely making me wonder what’s going on behind the scenes!
Wambach stated on Instagram that she’s sticking to her beliefs and instincts. She won’t work with this person professionally, and she believes he should step down to prevent others from being put in a similar position.
So, I heard from Wasserman that Mike Watts, who’s been with the company forever, is taking over the daily operations. Wasserman’s actually selling the company, and Watts is running things while that all goes down. It’s a bit of a shake-up, honestly, but Watts seems like a solid guy to keep things running smoothly during the transition.
The Wall Street Journal first reported on Wasserman’s staff memo.
Casey Wasserman comes from a powerful Hollywood family. His grandfather, Lew Wasserman, transformed MCA into a major studio by acquiring Universal Pictures. Now, Casey runs a successful sports and talent agency with around 4,000 employees, also grown through strategic purchases.
2026 Milan-Cortina Olympics
Recently revealed emails between Ghislaine Maxwell, a close associate of convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, could jeopardize Casey Wasserman’s position leading the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics.
Casey Wasserman intends to remain the head of the LA28 Olympic committee, and they continue to support him. In a statement, LA28 explained that the suggestive emails with Ghislaine Maxwell occurred after a charitable trip to Africa over twenty years ago, long before Wasserman or anyone else was aware of the terrible crimes committed by Jeffrey Epstein and Maxwell. They emphasized that this was his only contact with Epstein.
After reviewing the situation and recognizing his ten years of strong leadership, the LA28 Board’s Executive Committee has decided that Mr. Wasserman should remain in charge and ensure the Games are both safe and successful.
California
Despite increasing scrutiny regarding his connections to Jeffrey Epstein and Ghislaine Maxwell, the organizers of the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics have stated they reviewed Casey Wasserman’s past actions and decided he will remain chair of LA28.
The messages recently shared with Maxwell came from a large collection of documents about Epstein that the Department of Justice released to the public.
In a message to Maxwell, who is currently in prison for sexually trafficking children, Wasserman suggested they begin at a familiar location, then continue with a massage at his bed, repeating it again the next morning, and wasn’t sure when, if ever, they would end.
She hesitated, then asked if he was sure he could handle her touch. The idea of it, she admitted, was exciting. She playfully suggested she could test a few sensitive spots on him to see how he reacted, gauging his response to see if they had the desired effect.
Wasserman has expressed deep regret for emails she exchanged with Ghislaine Maxwell over twenty years ago, before Maxwell’s crimes were known. She states she never had a personal or professional relationship with Jeffrey Epstein. She also confirms she participated in a humanitarian trip organized by the Clinton Foundation in 2002, traveling on Epstein’s plane, and apologizes for any connection to either of them.
