As a lifestyle commentator, I’m reporting that Evan Dando, the lead singer of The Lemonheads, recently received treatment in the hospital. This came after a fan came forward alleging he’d sent her unwanted and explicit video content. It’s a serious situation, and I hope everyone involved gets the support they need.
A 58-year-old fan shared screenshots with the blog The Underground Bunker, reportedly showing a musician sending her unwanted sexual videos. The blog, run by Tony Ortega, reviewed the alleged exchange.
According to Ortega, the woman had briefly corresponded with Dando before he sent her two videos of himself and additional images depicting sexual activity.
Daily Mail has reached out to Dando’s representatives for comment and has yet to hear back.
The musician’s representative stated on Friday that their client has dealt with mental health challenges since childhood, according to a statement given to People magazine.
He was taken to a nearby hospital and is getting complete care from skilled doctors and mental health experts, they said.
As a lifestyle expert, I’ve been following this story closely. It turns out the woman involved had actually connected with Evan Dando online before, through X – what used to be Twitter. More recently, she even reached out to congratulate him on the release of The Lemonheads’ new album, ‘Love Chant,’ which came out last October. It’s interesting to see these little connections come to light.
She said he ignored her for months, and then, on February 4th, he finally messaged back, saying ‘Cool I’m sorry I’m an exhibitionist’.
She reportedly said, ‘Never apologize for being yourself, my friend. Always be confident and true to who you are, and to you.’
The fan stated that Dando messaged her, including a request to send an ‘art photo,’ which was then followed by a video of him engaging in a sexual act.
The woman said she didn’t know how to react to what happened, so she decided to wait until her husband was awake before dealing with it.
The fan claims Dando didn’t stop there, sending her another video and then two messages saying, “ok sorry thanks I just need an outlet” and “cheers.”
According to reports, the woman told Ortega, ‘I’ve never been so angry. And please don’t refer to me as your emotional outlet – it’s really upsetting.’
Antonia Teixeira, the wife of Dando, recently spoke with Billboard about the claims surrounding him. She explained that her husband has struggled with heavy drinking and prescription drug abuse for years, experienced a mental health crisis earlier this year, and she believes he had a recent relapse earlier this month.

Teixeira explained to the industry publication that this is when he started sharing sexually explicit videos with several women on X, including one with the same name as the accuser. He believes the woman who made the accusation was mistaken for another woman he was already exchanging videos with.
She told Billboard she felt deeply betrayed and was very angry about it. She believes no woman should have to experience something similar and expressed sympathy for the other woman involved.
‘He doesn’t remember what happened to start with … he was totally out of his mind.’
Okay, so I’ve been following everything about my absolute idol, and apparently, his wife, Teixeira – they got married just this year, can you believe it?! – says she actually talked to the woman who made those awful claims. And get this – she apologized! I mean, can you imagine? She’s so classy, defending him and taking responsibility. It just proves everything is a misunderstanding, and he’s the amazing person we all know he is. I’m so relieved!
She told him that if he didn’t finish his treatment, she would divorce him.
Last year, Dando published a memoir called Rumors Of My Demise, in which he openly shared his experiences with mental health challenges and overcoming heroin addiction.
He described being in very bad health, even losing teeth. His diet consisted mainly of cheeseburgers – which were difficult for him to eat – along with Marlboro Red cigarettes, purple Powerade from Cumberland Farms, and $200 worth of drugs each day, according to Variety.
Evan Dando is the sole constant member of The Lemonheads, an alternative rock band he started in Boston in 1986 with Ben Deily and Jesse Peretz.
Their biggest hit was a remake of Simon & Garfunkel’s “Mrs. Robinson,” which came out in 1992.
The band was active until 1997 before going on hiatus and then returned eight years later in 2005.
