Alan Carr and Amanda Holden’s BBC show ‘could be rested this year’ as comedian signs major deal with rival streamer

The popular BBC home renovation show starring Alan Carr and Amanda Holden might not return this year. This is because Carr is now working on a similar renovation project – but this one’s set in a castle – for Disney+.

The comedian, who is 49 years old, has become very popular since winning the popular reality TV show, Celebrity Traitors, last year.

Just three months later, Alan is now working on another home renovation show called Castle Man for the streaming service. This time, he’s restoring a Scottish castle.

With his current busy schedule, Alan probably won’t have time to film the popular BBC series, The Italian Job, with Amanda this year due to a new work commitment.

In addition to winning The Traitor, the show’s winner is also starting work with two other streamers this year. He’s already incredibly busy, having scheduled a major stand-up comedy tour that will take up much of 2027.

According to a source, Alan and Amanda were already discussing pausing their home renovation programs.

‘Both their diaries are so busy and the series takes weeks to film’

They also explained that recent developments make it highly unlikely the show will return in the near future, especially if Alan’s home renovation series on Disney+ does well.

Daily Mail has contacted the BBC and Alan and Amanda’s representatives for comment.

When it first aired, the renovation show The Italian Job, starring Amanda and Alan, quickly became one of the year’s most popular entertainment programs.

The show’s popularity led to several successful sequels, such as “The Spanish Job,” “The Greek Job,” and a Christmas special set in Italy.

Amanda and Alan’s newest show, “Greek Job,” is their most popular one so far, averaging four million viewers each time it airs.

This eight-episode BBC show follows best friends Amanda and Alan as they renovate a rundown house on the Greek island of Corfu.

Throughout the show, the pair tackles major problems with rundown buildings, tricky design challenges, and big home improvement projects as they work to turn a fixer-upper into a perfect vacation spot.

The show might not air this year, just days after reports surfaced that Alan is working on a new streaming series called ‘The F List’ for Amazon Prime Video.

Oh my gosh, you guys, I just saw this and I’m FREAKING OUT! Apparently, my absolute favorite comedian is going on tour with Jack Dee, Tom Allen, and Joanne McNally! And get this – they’re doing all those ‘bucket list’ things! Like, all the stuff everyone says you HAVE to do before you… well, you know. I’m already planning my road trip to see them at every single stop! This is going to be AMAZING!

This four-episode series will take viewers to Iceland, the Canary Islands, and various spots in England and Scotland.

The programme is set to hit screens later this year.

According to a source, this is major news for Alan, who many expected would join the BBC after appearing on The Celebrity Traitors.

He’s now working on multiple projects with major streaming services: a show with Disney, one with Prime Video, and another is already planned with Netflix.

‘Plus, he’s currently riding high thanks to the success of Secret Genius on Channel 4.

‘It seems telly bosses can’t get enough of him — and the Beeb can hardly get any of him.’

In addition, Alan is set to work with Netflix on a project with BBC co-star Amanda.

According to Broadcast, the comedian recently filmed a pilot episode of the Norwegian show ‘Nation’s Dumbest’ for the BBC, though it wasn’t intended for television broadcast.

Alan won The Celebrity Traitors by cleverly deceiving the other contestants, and he says that experience helped him understand the people competing on his new Channel 4 show, Secret Genius. On Secret Genius, he and Susie Dent from Countdown search the UK for talented individuals who haven’t gotten the recognition they deserve.

Alan began filming Secret Genius immediately after winning The Celebrity Traitors. He explained to the Daily Mirror that he’d transitioned from being the one doing the judging to being the one being judged, and felt people had underestimated him.

Honestly, it’s easy to see why people react the way they do – it’s just part of life, right? What really gets me thinking, though, is all the incredible people who’ve been consistently overlooked. I’m talking about those who’ve been underestimated their entire lives – by family, at work, even by friends and teachers. It’s a pattern I see a lot, and it’s so frustrating because those are often the people with the most potential.

‘And I was like, ‘Oh yeah, I sort of know how you feel really.’

‘Then watching them grow and the doubt melt away. I mean, it was so lovely. It’s a warm, fun show.’

Alan was revealed as one of the Traitors on the TV show The Celebrity Traitors, joining Claudia Winkleman, Jonathan Ross, and Cat Burns as part of the deceiving team.

He won after successfully deceiving Nick Mohammed, a comedian, and David Olusoga, a historian, in the final round.
