Nicole Curtis, the star of HGTV’s “Rehab Addict” known for her home renovation work in Detroit and Minneapolis, has issued an apology and expressed gratitude for support after a video containing a racial slur she used was made public.
She posted a video of herself walking on an airport moving sidewalk with a simple message: ‘I could say more, but I’ll keep it short.’ She also expressed gratitude for 15 years of support, explaining how fans helped her go from a single mom doing odd jobs to a successful real estate investor known around the world – mostly for her voice, she joked.
“God Bless … Set the DVR -stream it -just make sure these old houses are saved.”

Former ‘Real Housewives of New York’ star Jill Zarin faced consequences for publicly criticizing Bad Bunny’s Super Bowl halftime show – she was removed from her role on E!’s ‘The Golden Life’.
The video shows a person riding back and forth, playfully illustrating the anticipation for a new season of “Rehab Addict.” Text on the screen first says, “POV: you waiting all this time for more Rehab Addict.” Then, as the person turns around, it says, “Me: I promise,” and again as they turn, “Me: forgive me.”
She posted on Instagram Stories about a conversation she had with TMZ. In it, she expressed gratitude for her 15 years with HGTV, calling it an important part of her life. However, she explained that her priority right now isn’t her career, but rather her relationships and the people who know her best. She also wanted to state clearly that a certain word that was reported is not something she would ever use, and she apologized to anyone who was offended.
She then shared screenshots of abusive messages she’d received from strangers, including insults, racist slurs, and profane name-calling. One message even threatened her, saying they wanted her deported and “disposed of,” and wished her a life without peace. Curtis told TMZ that her priority is being a mother.
Video of the slip was captured two years ago, according to Radar Online, which posted it Wednesday.

Paula Deen’s Lady and Sons, the famous Georgia restaurant that launched her career and made her a well-known chef, is closing its doors.
In a short video, she protests, “Why? It’s my last one!” while on a ladder and having difficulty connecting some wires. She then uses a racial slur.
I was completely stunned when she suddenly stopped, spun around, and blurted out something… well, something pretty strong. She immediately asked, ‘What was that I just said?’ and frantically turned to Nick, begging him to cut it – to edit it out. You can see someone helping her down, and honestly, there was this awkward laughter happening off camera, like everyone was trying not to react.
Her cameraman, speaking from a distance and out of view, interrupts, saying, “No, I have 35 minutes of footage already…”
“Oh, f— my life,” Curtis says, distressed over what she just said.

After Francesca Amewudah-Rivers announced she’d be appearing alongside Tom Holland in a new production of ‘Romeo & Juliet,’ she quickly received racist comments and negative reactions.
I was really upset to hear about a racially offensive comment made on the set of Rehab Addict. HGTV has said they just learned about it, and I completely agree with their statement – language like that is just unacceptable and doesn’t reflect what the network should stand for. It’s hurtful to everyone involved, from the viewers to the people who work on the show, and it’s good that HGTV is addressing it.
HGTV has removed the show from all of its channels and streaming services. It originally ran for eight seasons between 2010 and 2018 and was partway through a ninth season, which was spread out over two years, when it was cancelled. As of Thursday, the entire franchise – including the spin-offs “Rehab Addict Rescue” (2021) and “Rehab Addict Lake House Rescue” (2022) – is no longer available on HBO Max or Discovery+.
Curtis announced upcoming new episodes of “Rehab Addict,” the first in over a year.
According to an Instagram post, the latest episodes became available on Wednesday. The post emphasized the urgency, stating it was ‘now or never’ to receive them. Although two episodes were planned, they didn’t actually air. The author also asked viewers to help promote the show by sharing it with friends, tagging people, and even reaching out to strangers.
In an interview with The Times, Curtis discussed her 2016 book, “Better Than New,” and shared a key lesson from it: “The best way to get through tough times is to keep moving forward.”

Another old video has emerged showing Justin Bieber using a racial slur when he was younger. It appears he repeatedly used the offensive term as part of a joke.
I was going through a difficult period and remember being upset enough to cry when a friend encouraged me to go for a walk. Even with mascara running down my face, she insisted I needed to keep moving and get out of the house, which really helped. I honestly don’t think I’d manage to get out of bed on some days if I wasn’t physically active. It’s important to push yourself – just get up and do something.
It could be time for Curtis to get up and moving again.
