Ellie Goulding, Tess Daly, and Joanne Froggatt were among the biggest stars at Thursday night’s BAFTA Invest in Talent Gala 2026, held at The Chancery Rosewood in London. They definitely turned heads as they arrived.
Thirty-nine-year-old Ellie, expecting her second child, turned heads on the red carpet. She proudly displayed her growing baby bump in a beautiful, fitted dress made of satin and lace.
Oh my gosh, she looked incredible! She wore this gorgeous pale pink dress with a really daring neckline, and then she layered a super fitted, see-through tulle dress over it. You could tell she’s expecting because the tulle hugged her baby bump so sweetly. It was a stunning look!
Ellie, who is pregnant with her first child with Beau Minniear and also a mother to four-year-old Arthur from a previous relationship with Caspar Jopling, looked glowing. She completed her outfit with a beautiful diamond necklace and earrings.
At the party, 56-year-old Tess turned heads in a little black dress. The dress was strapless and featured a high slit, showing off her fit legs.
Following her departure from hosting Strictly Come Dancing last year, her outfit seemed to nod to the show’s iconic Glitterball Trophy, as it was covered in sparkling gemstones.
The presenter beamed as she walked confidently down the red carpet, and her white high heels made her look even taller and more elegant.
Joanne, 45, looked incredibly elegant in a black halterneck dress. The dress had a slightly see-through skirt that flowed out into a short train.
The gala happens every two years to raise money for supporting up-and-coming filmmakers, game developers, and television creatives.
Okay, so, last month was HUGE! David Jonsson – seriously, that man is a dream, and he was a Rising Star nominee last year – and the amazing Aimee Lou Wood announced the nominations for the 2026 BAFTAs! I was practically glued to the screen, obviously. It was everything!
Following its strong showing at the Academy Award nominations, the film One Battle After Another received a total of 14 nominations, with Leonardo DiCaprio, its lead actor, also receiving a nomination.
Despite receiving a record-breaking number of Oscar nominations, the film ‘Sinners’ came in second at the BAFTAs with 13 nominations.
Marty Supreme and Hamnet were the top performers with eleven points each. Frankenstein and Sentimental Value followed with eight points apiece, while I Swear and Bugonia each received five. The Ballad of Wallis Island, Pillion, and F1 all earned three points.
Chloe Zhao’s film, Hamnet, based on Maggie O’Farrell’s acclaimed novel about Shakespeare’s family, has received more BAFTA nominations than any other film directed by a woman.
The films competing for Best Film are Hamnet, Marty Supreme, One Battle After Another, and Sinners and Sentimental Value.
Jessie Buckley, the Irish actress, is gaining momentum during awards season. After winning a Golden Globe and Critics Choice Award for her performance in Hamnet, she’s now considered a likely winner of both the Oscar and SAG Award next month.
The nominees for Leading Actress include Rose Byrne for her role in If I Had Legs I’d Kick You, Kate Hudson in Song Sung Blue, Chase Infiniti for One Battle After Another, Renate Reinsve in Sentimental Value, and Emma Stone for Bugonia.
Although Paul Mescal, who starred alongside Jessie in ‘Hamnet,’ wasn’t nominated for an Oscar, he did receive a nomination for Best Supporting Actor at the BAFTAs.
He’s facing strong competition for an award, going up against Benicio Del Toro (for One Battle After Another), Jacob Elordi (for Frankenstein), Peter Mullan (for I Swear), Sean Penn (also for One Battle After Another), and Stellan Skarsgard (for Sentimental Value).
As a lifestyle expert, I’m keeping a close eye on the BAFTA nominations, and it looks like Leo might snag his second win! He’s up for ‘One Battle After Another,’ marking his seventh nomination – amazing! But the competition is fierce; he’ll be going head-to-head with Timothée Chalamet, who’s nominated for ‘Marty Supreme.’ It’s shaping up to be a really exciting awards season!
Rounding out the strong list of contenders are Robert Aramayo in ‘I Swear’, Ethan Hawke in ‘Blue Moon’, Michael B. Jordan in ‘Sinners’, and Jesse Plemons in ‘Bugonia’.
Oh my gosh, I’m SO hoping Wunmi Mosaku wins! She’s incredible in ‘Sinners,’ and it would be amazing to see a British actress – especially her! – take home the Supporting Actress award. Of course, Carey Mulligan in ‘The Ballad Of Wallis Island’ and Emily Watson in ‘Hamnet’ are both phenomenal, but I’m seriously rooting for Wunmi! It’s going to be so hard to watch, honestly!
Oh my gosh, you guys, it’s HAPPENING! The Brits are going up against Odessa A’Zion – can you believe it?! – for the Marty Supreme title! And it doesn’t stop there! Inga Ibsdotter Lilleaas is battling for Sentimental Value, which I’m SO excited about, and then Teyana Taylor is taking on One Battle After Another! I’m literally counting down the seconds! This is going to be epic!
This year’s BAFTA Film Awards see first-time nominees in acting categories including Robert Aramayo, Odessa A’zion, Rose Byrne, Chase Infiniti, Michael B. Jordan, Inga Ibsdotter Lilleaas, Stellan Skarsgård, and Teyana Taylor.
Oh my gosh, you guys, the Best Director nominations are OUT and I’m SO excited! Two of the nominees are brand new to this – Ryan Coogler, whose work on ‘Sinners’ is just amazing, and Josh Safdie, who blew me away with ‘Marty Supreme’! I’ve been following their careers for ages and I’m absolutely thrilled they’re finally getting the recognition they deserve!
The recent BAFTA nominations for Sinners followed closely on the heels of the film receiving a record-breaking number of Academy Award nominations, including a nomination for Best Picture.
The film received a stunning 16 Oscar nominations, breaking the previous record of 14, which was held by three other films: All About Eve (1950), Titanic (1997), and La La Land (2016).
Paul Thomas Anderson’s film, Meanwhile One Battle After Another, which follows a former revolutionary as he searches for his teenage daughter, has received 13 Academy Award nominations.
The film starring Leonardo DiCaprio received nominations in all four acting categories at the BAFTAs. There’s a strong chance of success in the Supporting Actor category, with both Sean and Benicio nominated.
Paul has been nominated for Director, and the film has also received nominations for Adapted Screenplay, Casting, Cinematography, Editing, Original Score, Production Design, and Sound.
Despite receiving no nominations at the Oscars, the film Wicked: For Good earned two nominations at the BAFTAs: one for costume design and another for make-up and hair.
However, the Brazilian thriller The Secret Agent also earned two nominations, which is half the number it received at the Oscars, where it was recognized in prominent categories like Best Actor and Best Picture.
The film K-Pop Demon Hunters wasn’t eligible for a BAFTA award because Netflix released it for streaming in the UK before its theatrical release, which violates BAFTA’s rules.
The nominees for the EE BAFTA Rising Star Award are Archie Madekwe (for his role in Lurker), Chase Infiniti (One Battle After Another), Miles Caton (Sinners), Posy Sterling (Lollipop), and Robert Aramayo (I Swear).
As a lifestyle expert, I can tell you the nominees were selected by a really impressive group of people! We had a panel of industry insiders – including fantastic actors like Joe Alwyn, Sheila Atim, and Benedict Wong – along with many other respected professionals, all lending their expertise to the process.
The EE Rising Star Award is unique among BAFTA awards because it’s the only one decided by public vote.
This award often predicts future success in Hollywood. Past winners include major stars like Tom Holland, James McAvoy, Lashana Lynch, Kristen Stewart, Eva Green, Daniel Kaluuya, Letitia Wright, and Tom Hardy.
BAFTA judges reviewed 221 films, and after an initial selection of 82, they narrowed the field down to a shortlist of finalists.
BAFTA CEO Jane Millichip congratulated the creators of the 46 films nominated today, praising them for demonstrating the power of storytelling to captivate, amuse, and spark discussion.
The films nominated this year are remarkable for their creative stories and skillful production. The variety of themes, types of movies, and filmmaking approaches is truly captivating.
I hope all of our nominees, especially those joining us for the first time, relish this well-earned moment in the spotlight. I’m excited to welcome them, along with all of our returning nominees, to London.
We’re proud to present the outstanding films and filmmakers celebrated at the 79th EE BAFTA Film Awards. As the UK’s leading arts charity and academy, it’s a privilege to share this event with audiences on BBC, BBC iPlayer, and globally on February 22nd.
The 2026 BAFTA Film Awards will be held on Sunday, February 22nd, and Alan Cumming will host the ceremony.
