Spider-Man Brand New Day: New Leaked Photo May Spoil Tobey Maguire-Inspired Twist

A recent promotional image for the upcoming Spider-Man: Brand New Day movie might have revealed a new ability Spider-Man will gain in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

A promotion combining Takis chips and the comic series Spider-Man: Brand New Day is making the rounds on social media (as reported by Aranhaverso Brasil), and it’s given fans a fresh glimpse of Tom Holland as Spider-Man. Eagle-eyed viewers believe a small detail in the promo hints at a new superpower he’ll gain in the upcoming July movie.

Although it’s not yet confirmed if the collaboration is real, it appears to show Peter Parker wearing his popular suit from the Brand New Day era, often considered one of the best Spider-Man movie costumes.

As a huge Spider-Man fan, I was really excited to notice something in a recent close-up – when he shoots his webs, you don’t see any of those mechanical web-shooters! It seems like in the Brand New Day storyline, Peter Parker is actually developing the ability to create webs organically, which is a pretty big change and a really cool power upgrade!

Tobey Maguire’s Spider-Man is different from the others because he gained his web-shooting powers directly from a radioactive spider bite. This means his webs are natural. In contrast, the Spider-Men played by Tom Holland and Andrew Garfield build their own web-shooters using technology.

Director Sam Raimi chose to give Spider-Man organic webbing because he felt it logically followed from the spider bite – Peter gaining a natural spider ability. Raimi also found it hard to believe a high school student, even a gifted one, could realistically build the complex web-shooters often depicted in the comics.

For a while, Spider-Man gained the ability to shoot organic webs in his comic books. This happened as part of a storyline where his original powers were lost and he later regained them with this new skill – a change that mirrored developments in the movies.
