Andy Dick bounces back from near-fatal drug overdose as he cycles days after checking out of 50-day rehab stint

Just two months after a serious drug overdose, Andy Dick was spotted enjoying a bike ride in Los Angeles, prioritizing his health and recovery.

After completing a 50-day stay in rehab, the 60-year-old comedian, who has openly struggled with substance abuse, was seen riding through a peaceful neighborhood with a friend.

Last December, the celebrity was found collapsed and unconscious on a Hollywood street. A friend was able to help him before emergency services arrived.

I was so relieved to hear that Dick checked himself into rehab in Palm Springs a few weeks ago. Thankfully, he completed his six-week program and officially left late last month in January. It’s great to know he’s taking care of himself.

The NewsRadio actor was recently spotted biking around town, wearing a dark navy hoodie and pajama pants.

The celebrity completed a stay in rehab at Harlow Gardens in Palm Springs, leaving in January after first checking in on December 12th.

He earned a full scholarship to the center thanks to his friends Jenny Gimenez and Tim Ryan.

However, it was not the Hollywood actor’s first time going to rehab.

Dick has been to rehab more than 20 times and arrested around 10 times throughout his life.

TMZ reports that he’s been prioritizing getting sober and is focusing on each day as it comes, following a public overdose two months prior.

Sources say Dick is currently living in a sober living home in Beverly Hills and prioritizing his well-being.

TMZ published shocking photos in early December showing the celebrity collapsed on a sidewalk in Hollywood.

He became unresponsive, and his friends immediately tried to help before calling 911. Fortunately, they were able to revive him using several doses of Narcan, a medication that reverses opioid overdoses.

Soon after the event, Dick spoke out in an interview with TMZ, admitting he occasionally uses crack cocaine.

A brief video shows the actor with two friends, who were also known to have been with the comedian when he overdosed.

While hanging out with his friends, Dick eventually ‘snuck away’ from them.

A friend said he went through a difficult time, and that his friends all worked together to help him through it.

Dick interrupted to share that he recently met someone his age who seemed to understand what he was going through. This man then unexpectedly pulled out some crack cocaine, and Dick admitted he considered trying it himself.

‘I wanted to see what he was doing and also, I don’t mind doing a little crack every now and then.’

Earlier this month, Dick discussed the incident in more detail on the Hate To Break It To Ya podcast.

He explained that people told him his heart stopped and he stopped breathing, requiring them to administer Narcan to revive him.

Dick shared with the podcast audience the very first thing he said after waking up.

‘When I sat up, I said, “Where’s the vodka?”‘ he remembered.

According to his lawyer, who spoke to the Daily Mail after the reported overdose, Dick was ‘doing great’ and they were looking into what happened.

As a lifestyle expert, I’m hearing reports about Dick’s recent health scare, and thankfully, the LAPD and Fire Department have confirmed he’s now safe. They’ve shared that a friend helped him get home after he experienced an overdose. It’s a relief to know he’s getting the support he needs.

According to a Los Angeles Fire Department spokesperson, crews responded to a call at the 7-Eleven at Highland and Yucca at 3:14 p.m. regarding a 59-year-old man. They are withholding the man’s name to comply with privacy regulations.

‘But we did respond to that location for an overdose. He was not transported to the hospital.’

Okay, look, I know people talk about him, and it’s… complicated. But honestly, it breaks my heart to see him struggle. It’s like, for years, he’s been battling demons with drugs and alcohol, and it’s always playing out publicly. One minute he’s in trouble with the law, the next there are awful accusations… it just never stops. It’s a constant cycle of problems, and I just wish he could get the help he needs. It’s really upsetting to watch him go through all of this, even if others don’t understand why I care so much.

In 2022, he was ordered to register as a sex offender stemming from a 2018 conviction.

In November 2021, Dick was arrested and charged with domestic violence after reportedly hitting his partner in the head with a bottle.

Dick was later released after he posted $50,000 bond.

I was really shocked to hear that Dick was arrested back in October 2021. Apparently, he was accused of hitting his boyfriend in the face with a frying pan – it’s just awful and I hope everything gets sorted out fairly.

In June 2021, the actor was arrested for assault after reportedly hitting someone with a metal chair. He was later released on $50,000 bail following the incident.

In 2019, the actor received a 14-day jail sentence after being found guilty of sexual battery for allegedly grabbing a woman’s buttocks. He was released after only one night because the jail was too crowded.

In 2018, Dick’s wife, Lena Sved, filed for a restraining order due to domestic violence. This order forced Dick to leave their home and stay at least 100 yards away from Lena and their children – Lucas, 37, Jacob, 31, and Meg, 27.

In 2012, Dick was arrested after reportedly pulling down a 17-year-old girl’s top, exposing her breasts.

I was really disappointed to learn that he ended up getting caught with marijuana and had to admit to some minor drug and assault charges. It meant he was on probation for three years, which was tough to hear as one of his supporters.

In 2010, he was arrested after reportedly groping a man while drunk at a bar in West Virginia.

During a 2007 interview on Jimmy Kimmel Live!, Dick grabbed Ivanka Trump inappropriately and was subsequently removed from the stage by security.
