Pokémon GO introduces “What’s Your Favorite?” feature to celebrate the upcoming Pokémon 30th anniversary

Let everyone know who your favorite critter is in Pokémon GO!

Just weeks before celebrating its 30th anniversary, Pokémon GO has released a new update. The update includes a fun feature called “What’s Your Favorite?” that lets players create custom photos with their beloved Pokémon.

The “What’s Your Favorite?” feature is designed for phones that support augmented reality (AR) and will be a lasting part of the app’s camera. It allows users to choose any Pokémon to pose for a photo with, even if they haven’t yet discovered or caught that Pokémon in the game.

The feature now includes nearly all of the 1,000+ Pokémon species, and after you take a photo, you can personalize it with fun decorations like flairs and stickers.

How to use the “What’s Your Favorite?” feature in Pokémon GO

To use this camera feature in Pokémon GO, first open the app. Then, tap the Poké Ball icon in the center of the screen to open the main menu. Finally, select the camera icon with the “What’s Your Favorite?” logo, which you’ll find on the lower left side of the screen.

Open the camera settings and select “What’s Your Favorite?” to see a list of Pokémon you can photograph. You can use the search bar to quickly find a specific Pokémon by typing its name or its number in the National Pokédex.

Just so you know, you can’t choose special Pokémon like those that have Mega Evolved, wear costumes, or are in their Max forms.

Once you’ve chosen your Pokémon, you can use your phone’s camera to take pictures with it in the real world and easily share those photos with friends online.

Perks of using this new feature on Pokémon GO

The “What’s Your Favorite?” feature isn’t just a fun way to express your love for Pokémon—it also gives you Special Research tasks to complete, and you’ll get rewards for finishing them.

Some of the rewards include:

  • 100 PokéCoins
  • A rare encounter with Gengar
  • Other useful items

You only have until March 21st at 8 p.m. local time to claim this Special Research, so be sure to do it soon to earn extra rewards and try out the new camera feature!
