Good news for British fans of the Irish drama The Walsh Sisters! After being shown on RTÉ last year, the show is coming to the UK on February 21st. All episodes will be available on BBC iPlayer from 6am that Sunday, and the first episode will also air on BBC One at 9:15pm. The remaining five episodes will then be shown weekly on BBC One in the same time slot.
I’m really excited about this show! It’s based on Marian Keyes’ books and follows these five sisters – Anna, Rachel, Maggie, Claire, and Helen – as they figure out life in their twenties and thirties. It looks like it’s going to deal with some really relatable stuff, like dealing with breakups, loss, and even addiction. I think a lot of people will connect with their stories.
I’m so excited about this new show, The Walsh Sisters! The cast is incredible – it’s got Louisa Harland, who I loved in Derry Girls, Danielle Galligan from House of Guinness, Mairead Tyers who’s hilarious in Extraordinary, Stefanie Preissner who I really enjoyed in Can’t Cope, Won’t Cope, and Caroline Menton from Oddity. Seriously, what a lineup!

Preissner writes for the show, collaborating with Kefi Chadwick, known for his work on series like Rivals and Death in Paradise.
The show currently has an average rating of 6.9/10 on IMDb, based on early reviews. However, this score could shift significantly depending on how much UK audiences enjoy it compared to Irish viewers.

One delighted viewer called “The Walsh Sisters” excellent Irish TV, saying it makes Sunday nights a treat. They also complimented actor Louis Harland, noting his performance was a refreshing change from his role in “Derry Girls.”
One viewer commented that while the sisters appear different from how they pictured, their personalities align with their expectations. They also praised the show’s ability to weave the complex story of the books into a cohesive narrative.

However, some viewers found the show difficult to follow. One person commented that it felt overwhelming, saying there was “way too much going on.” Another viewer described it as messy and unfocused, explaining that each episode adds new storylines and characters.
You’ll be able to make up your own mind in just over a week.
The Walsh Sisters drops on iPlayer and premieres on BBC One on 21 February.
