While Callum Turner is still considered a top contender to be the next James Bond, his upcoming film, Rose of Nevada, is a very different kind of project. The trailer is fantastic, and many people are now even more eager to see Rose of Nevada than they are to find out who will play 007 – even if that ends up being Turner himself.
This new film is the third from acclaimed Cornish director Mark Jenkin, known for his previous movies Bait and Enys Men. It tells the story of a fishing boat, the Rose of Nevada, which unexpectedly returns to a small Cornish harbor thirty years after disappearing.
The people of the village think a sea voyage will bring good fortune, so young father Nick, needing work to support his family, and Liam, a newcomer hoping for a fresh start, join Captain Murgey on a trip out to sea.

The trailer reveals a strange turn of events: after returning to the village with what they’ve found, the group realizes they’ve traveled back in time to 1993. Even more strangely, the villagers act as if they are the original crew of a ship, the Rose of Nevada, which disappeared years ago.
If you’re curious about the true story behind this film, Rose of Nevada will be in UK and Irish cinemas on April 24th. It will also be available to stream on BFI Player later this summer.

The film Rose of Nevada first premiered at the Venice International Film Festival last year, and was also shown at the BFI London Film Festival. Critics have given it overwhelmingly positive reviews, with a perfect 100% score on Rotten Tomatoes based on 29 reviews.
Critics have hailed this Cornish film as a modern classic, describing it as eerie, heartbreaking, and wonderful. Little White Lies called it a deeply moving yet unsettling experience, while RogerEbert.com found it mesmerizing.
According to IndieWire, Rose of Nevada has the quality of a folk tale, and feels like a movie that could have a different ending each time you watch it.
Rose of Nevada is released in UK and Irish cinemas on 24 April.
