West Side Story actor Ansel Elgort confirms he has become a father but fails to name the baby mama

Ansel Elgort took to Instagram on Tuesday to confirm that he has welcomed his first child, a son.

The actor from West Side Story didn’t say anything about a girlfriend or boyfriend, or the parent of his child, in his social media posts.

This sighting happened just a few weeks after the 31-year-old actor was seen carrying his newborn baby in New York City.

Ansel Elgort recently shared a new song, “Canopy (in the kitchen),” performing it sweetly for his baby with just an acoustic guitar.

The actor also shared a close-up, black and white photo of himself with his son, explaining that he had printed the picture himself.

He shared a touching announcement about becoming a dad, saying that fatherhood is both wonderful and challenging – everything he’d hoped for and more. He feels more connected to the present moment and optimistic about the future.

Honestly, he keeps me up all night, but it’s the best kind of exhausted. Watching him just… feel everything, swinging from tears to full-on laughter, it’s like he’s unlocked something in me. I feel so much more free to just let it all out now, you know? It’s incredible, actually. I’ve never felt more alive.

The heartfelt message went on to say, ‘I initially wanted to keep this special moment private, just between us. But now, I want to share this story because it’s the most joyful experience of my life, and I hope it makes you smile too.’

Elgort signed off, ‘So much love, Ansel.’

I first saw a video of him singing to his little boy. You could just barely make out the baby resting in his crib on the floor, but it was so sweet! It was a really touching moment he shared online.

Although the new father hasn’t officially announced or advertised it, the song is now available as a single on streaming services.

He didn’t mention his son’s name when he posted the picture, but he revealed it at the very end of his last video, sweetly saying ‘Good morning, Neo’ as he looked at him.

His The Fault in Our Stars co-star Shailene Woodley dropped a heart eye emoji in the comments.

Elgort shared that the person immediately began to smile as soon as he said ‘Good morning,’ and he accompanied his story with tearful and heartwarming emojis.

Sophie Elgort, his 40-year-old sister, commented that she and her kids listened to it repeatedly that morning.

Ansel Elgort is famous for his roles in the 2021 remake of West Side Story, directed by Steven Spielberg, and Edgar Wright’s 2017 film, Baby Driver.

Many of his 7.6 million Instagram followers mentioned a movie when commenting on his post about his new baby.

Fans celebrated Ansel Elgort’s recent announcement that he and his wife are expecting a child, with one writing, ‘My baby driver has now a baby!’ and another adding, ‘Baby Driver is now a dad! Congratulations, Ansel!’

His acting credits also include the HBO Max series Tokyo Vice.

Last November, Ansel Elgort performed in Pete Townshend’s rock ballet, Quadrophenia, playing the character of The Godfather.
