Miss Universe Australia is undergoing a major shakeup.
For the first time, the beauty pageant will include a contestant who is the oldest in its history, now that they’ve removed the upper age limit.
Thirty-eight-year-old Christina Dietze is aiming to win the pageant, inspired by her role model, Jennifer Hawkins, the 2004 Miss Universe Australia, even though some have commented on her age, suggesting she’s nearing 40.
The model and designer from South Yarra, Victoria, feels confident and in shape, and believes she has a good chance of winning the competition.
As someone who’s prioritized self-care and worked in the modeling world for years, I’ve learned a lot about maintaining a healthy lifestyle. It’s been quite a journey, and I’m happy to share what I’ve discovered.
She believes that reaching your 30s brings valuable life experience and personal growth. She feels she now has something meaningful to offer and wants to give back to others.
Christina says she has been ‘doing Pilates every day’ in preparation.
In the past, only people between 18 and 28 could compete. Starting in 2023, the age limit for women was lifted, allowing anyone over 28 to participate.
The rules about marital status have been changed, so married women, divorced women, and mothers are now all allowed to participate.
Despite the inclusive rule change, last year’s winner was just 21.
Lexie Brant, a student studying occupational therapy and a model from Brisbane, won the title of Miss Universe Australia 2025 at a stunning event in Perth.
The stunning blonde contestant impressed the judges and won the national competition, earning her the opportunity to represent the country at Miss Universe.
Brant received the crown from Zoe Creed, the previous winner who had competed in the international finals in Mexico earlier this year.
Lexie looked like a champion as she stepped into the spotlight for the finale, wearing a sparkling silver dress and beaming with a bright smile.
Ivy Prempeh finished as the first runner-up, and Cara Mooney, Bianca Black, and Ash Donner completed the top five.
The competition also featured strong performances from finalists Nadia Delis, Georgia Dewstow-Smith, Chloe Hardy, and Asha Cooper.
Brant, now 22, told Gold Coast Magazine she decided to compete in the national pageant because she wanted to challenge herself and try something new.
She said entering Miss Universe Australia was a way for her to challenge herself and try something completely new.
She described herself as a shy child who often preferred observing life rather than participating in it.
Lexie joined a long list of Aussie beauty queens who’ve gone on to forge careers in fashion.
These models include Laura Dundovic, Erin McNaught, Monika Radulovic and Maria Thattil.
