Bridgerton author responds to rumours of recasting two of the show’s stars

Julia Quinn, the author of the Bridgerton novels, has addressed the talk about potential recasting in the Netflix series. It seems the show won’t be saying goodbye to some of its familiar faces, which is good news for viewers who have been following the story for a while.

There are rumors that Florence Hunt and Will Tilston, the actors who have played Hyacinth and Gregory Bridgerton since the beginning of the series, may be replaced when the show starts covering the books where their characters have bigger roles.

I was reading an interview with Quinn in Us Weekly, and they didn’t say for sure, but they seemed really positive that Hunt and Tilston would be continuing on with the show. It sounds like they’re likely staying!

What to Read Next

She chuckled, recalling how young they were when they first began – around twelve and thirteen years old. If someone had asked her at the time if those same actors would eventually play the adult versions of the characters, she admitted she wouldn’t have known what to say.

I saw them again at the movie premiere, and this time they were both drinking wine. They’ve both turned eighteen, and Will brought his girlfriend with him.

The novels It’s In His Kiss and On the Way to the Wedding center around the main couple. Before those stories are adapted, two other books from the series will be turned into episodes, and Quinn has confirmed the show will mostly follow the order of the books.

Because the show takes a long time to produce new seasons, it will be several years before we see storylines focused on Hyacinth and Gregory.

According to the showrunner, Jess Brownell, the upcoming two seasons will focus on either Eloise’s story followed by Francesca’s, or vice versa – a logical progression, she explained.

Filming will take several years, meaning the actors playing Hyacinth and Gregory will likely be in their twenties by the time we get to those characters. I think that’s probably fine, but it might be strange remembering them as twelve-year-olds. We’re used to seeing child actors mature, though.

Everyone is currently focused on Benedict and his new relationship with Sophie. Netflix is releasing the season in two parts again, but the last four episodes of season four will be available soon.

The streaming service released a short preview last week to help fans cope with the anticipation.

As a huge Bridgerton fan, I’ve put together a ranking of all the main couples so far – and I’m pretty confident you’ll agree with my choices! But hey, if you don’t, feel free to share your thoughts – maybe even write your own Lady Whistledown-style newsletter about it!

You can watch seasons 1 through 3 of Bridgerton, plus the series Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story, on Netflix now. The second part of season 4 will be available starting February 26th.
