Rachael Finch recently shared a common struggle many people experience when they move back home with their parents.
The 37-year-old wellness influencer recently moved from Sydney to the Gold Coast with her husband, Michael Miziner, and their two children, Violet, 12, and Dominic, 8, to help care for her mother, who is unwell.
I just had to share a fun moment from my recent visit home! I posted a little video to Instagram of me and my husband, Michael, playfully competing for the top bunk in my mom’s guest room. It’s always a silly battle when we stay there!
The video showed the couple standing by the beds, and both Rachael and Michael said they’d rather sleep on the lower bunk.
To resolve their disagreement, Rachael and Michael played Rock, Paper, Scissors, and Rachael won – her scissors beat Michael’s paper.
Rachael was clearly delighted with her victory, raising her hands in celebration as Michael walked away, looking defeated.
Captioning the humorous clip, Rachael revealed that she had an unfair advantage in the contest.
Okay, so my friend Rachael just shared something really relatable! She says her partner always chooses paper – like, in any decision – and then immediately had the best night’s sleep! It got me thinking – how do couples (or anyone living together!) navigate those everyday decisions? It’s amazing how something small like choosing between options can actually impact your well-being, isn’t it? It really highlights the importance of finding a decision-making style that works for everyone in the household.
The post was met with a flurry of comments and laugh emojis from Rachael’s followers.
‘OMG. That is how we make all major decisions in our household. Love it,’ one fan wrote.
Another jumped in with: ‘Don’t think I’ve ever seen anyone fight for the bottom bunk before.’
Last month, Rachael shared that she had relocated from Sydney to the Gold Coast to be with and care for her mother, who is unwell.
Rachael’s mother, Colleen Zablocki, has faced a number of health challenges recently. She was diagnosed with a serious illness and also suffered torn ligaments, which have made it difficult for her to move around.
Oh my gosh, she finally posted! It’s everything I’ve been dreading – pictures of her, Michael, and the kids packing up their house in Sydney. The caption was so sad, she said it was a really tough call for them as a family. It just breaks my heart seeing it all happen!
She announced that they’re starting a new chapter in their lives, moving to the Gold Coast in 2026 to be near her mother.
This was a difficult decision, but she needs our help right now. I expect we’ll be doing a lot of traveling, spending a lot of time at airports.
Rachael added they were being optimistic about what the future held for them.
She asked people who live on or enjoy the Gold Coast to share their favorite places to visit – including cafes, shops, and beaches – in the comments below.
‘We want to explore them all. Also can’t wait to show you our new home!’
She later shared a clip from her new home, in which she told fans her family was settling in well.
It was a hectic first night in the new house. Yesterday was all about unpacking, and I finally got the water filter set up,” she explained.
Rachael and her husband recently had a successful real estate sale, selling their Sydney penthouse for over $3 million in October.
In 2014, they purchased a three-bedroom, three-bathroom apartment for $1.64 million before it was even built.
Real estate agents told The Daily Telegraph that the fashionable home sold for more than $3 million.
Rachael and Michael met on Dancing With The Stars in 2010.
The Queensland-born model married Michael in 2013.
They had their first child, a daughter named Violet, in September 2014. Their son, Dominic, was born in March 2017.
