Marvel Announces New Doomquest as Doctor Doom Rewrites History

The publisher is gearing up to show fans why Doctor Doom remains one of the most iconic villains of all time. They’re launching a new ten-part series that promises to be his biggest challenge yet.

The new comic series Doomquest, written by the creators of Fantastic Four and Ryan North, will have artwork by Francesco Mobili, known for his work on Daredevil. Marvel describes it as a self-contained story, ideal for both longtime readers and newcomers, offering a fresh look at Doctor Doom before he appears in the Avengers: Doomsday movie later this year. A preview of Doomquest will be available in Armageddon/X-Men #1 on May 2nd, with the first issue hitting shelves on May 27th.

Marvel Reveals New Details Of Doctor Doom’s Latest Conquest

Marvel recently revealed details about a new series, including a first look at its cover art by . They also hinted at the direction the story will take with Doctor Doom. According to the publisher’s description, Doctor Doom is a brilliant scientist, a powerful sorcerer, and the leader of a country – truly a great man. However, Doom always desires more, and he’s furious when his longtime rival, Reed Richards (Mister Fantastic), is honored at an important international event that Doom wasn’t invited to.

Reed Richards, a constant source of optimism in the Marvel Universe, is about to unveil a groundbreaking plan. Doctor Doom, however, is determined to exploit it for his own purposes. Reed intends to dedicate his life to perfecting history itself. He plans to travel back in time and correct periods of war and strife, potentially saving countless lives and guiding humanity towards a golden age.

Doctor Doom is once again proving to be a major threat to the Fantastic Four, staying one step ahead as usual. However, his plans are running into some surprising obstacles throughout the galaxy. Doom is determined to rewrite history first, believing it’s the opposite of what Reed Richards would do. But when the Fantastic Four try to stop him, he finds himself facing challenges he never anticipated, spanning all of time and space.

Doomquest Writer Returns to Doctor Doom After Marvel’s One World Under Doom Event

If you’re a Marvel fan and want to learn more about Doctor Doom, Doomquest is a great place to start. Readers who’ve followed Doom’s recent comic adventures will recognize the writer, Ryan North, who previously guided Doom through a large storyline in 2025. North explains, “I left Doom in an exciting spot with One World Under Doom, and I was eager to see where other writers would take the character – and I still am!”

I was really excited when the opportunity arose to create a classic Doom story – one set in the recent past, free from the constraints of current events. The fact that I could go all-out with the scale and craziness was a huge draw. Simply put, this project was the most fun: a truly over-the-top Doom adventure where he travels through time, changing history to suit his own purposes. It’s a wild, explosive ride, and I guarantee some incredible Doom moments – and monologues – throughout.

Artist Francesco Mobili is excited about the new series, praising the combination of the iconic villain Doctor Doom and writer Ryan North. He says it’s a joy to illustrate each page, loves North’s writing, and can’t wait for fans to see what they’ve created.

Doomquest #1 goes on sale May 27, 2026.
