The latest update to eFootball 2026 includes a new ‘Epic European Clubs Guardians’ pack, and it’s proving to be a hit with players. While some find these packs repetitive, this one is different because it offers a well-rounded selection of defenders. It features three legendary players, each with unique skills and strengths, making it a strong addition to any team.
This pack features top-rated center backs like Franz Beckenbauer, Makoto Hesebe, and Albert Ferrer. Before you spend your in-game currency, here’s a look at what each player card offers to help you decide if it’s worth the try.
eFootball 2026 Epic European Clubs Guardians players
Franz Beckenbauer
- Position: CB
- Playing Style: Build Up
- Showtime Skills: Phenomenal Pass and Long-Reach Tackle
Franz Beckenbauer remains a consistently strong card, even the standard version is still effective despite changes in the game’s popular strategies. This special ‘Epic’ version is currently the best defender available for players who prioritize passing and ball control.
Phenomenal Pass is a great fit for him, and his passing ability already feels top-tier for a defender – it’s a really useful skill. Long-Reach Tackle is excellent, but Aerial Fort would be an even better addition, particularly because his height can be a disadvantage against taller, aerial players like Koller who are common in the current game.
I get why some people might be unsure about using him solely as a center back. He’s not the tall, strong player most people prefer in that position these days. Actually, I think he’s even better when played as a defensive midfielder, since the ‘libero’ role he’s suited for isn’t really common in competitive eFootball.
He’s best suited for a defensive midfield role, and you can easily adjust his setup to be a more creative, deep-lying playmaker who also works hard defensively. Playing him as a third center back is another good possibility.
Makoto Hesebe
- Position: CB
- Playing Style: Build Up
- Showtime Skills: Fortress and Visionary Pass
Makoto Hasebe is often compared to Franz Beckenbauer, though perhaps a bit more reserved. Like Beckenbauer, he’s a defender who’s comfortable with the ball at his feet, possessing strong defensive skills and accurate passing. His excellent vision allows him to effectively contribute to starting attacks from the back.
One significant drawback is the absence of a dedicated defensive skill move. Considering this cornerback’s impressive defensive stats, a skill like Long-Reach Tackle would have been a valuable addition. The player’s overall visual design is also somewhat underwhelming.
He’s a skilled player, similar to Beckenbauer in stature, but his shorter legs might limit his ability to intercept passes. While he’s good, he doesn’t quite stand out as a truly exceptional, game-altering defender – we really need someone who’s significantly better in multiple areas.
Albert Ferrer
- Position: RB
- Playing Style: Offensive Fullback
- Showtime Skills: Fortress
Ferrer is a really enjoyable player to use in the game. He’s quick, lively, and feels very reactive on the field. His speed is his main strength, allowing him to quickly get back into position even if he’s a little bit out of place. He’s so fast, you could even play him as a center-back because he’ll likely beat any opponent in a sprint.
He doesn’t excel at catching passes, so running back is definitely his best position. He’s developing more as a defender, which is unusual for an offensive fullback. To make him a bigger threat on offense, you’ll need to adjust his physical attributes.
I’m still not happy with the skills they chose. Edge Crossing definitely should have been included, and Fortress feels unnecessary for this card, which is disappointing.
Best pick from the Epic European Clubs Guardians pack in eFootball 2026
Okay, I’ll admit it – I’m a sucker for center backs who are good on the ball, which is why I pulled for Der Kaiser. Honestly, in real life, that defensive line would be incredible – a truly top-tier trio. But in the game, it’s just so physical, and with how assists and crosses are working right now, a lot of these cards don’t really live up to their potential. It’s a shame, really.
If you’re looking for a serious, competitive experience, this isn’t for you. But if you just want to enjoy the game casually and have fun, this pack is a great choice.
