More than ten years ago, Marlon Wayans jokingly called Delta Goodrem an ‘unrhythmic white woman’ after seeing her dance at a Jay-Z and Beyoncé concert in the United States.
Now, Robert Irwin has been cut down to size
A social media user caused controversy on Sunday by calling Robert, a 22-year-old known for his wildlife advocacy, a ‘random white boy’ while sharing a video of him enjoying Bad Bunny’s Super Bowl halftime show.
The video, first shared by Robert, shows the host of I’m A Celebrity dancing in a private area while the Puerto Rican singer performed his most popular songs.
Carlos shared a video with the caption, ‘Check out this guy confidently enjoying Bad Bunny even though he doesn’t speak Spanish! There’s a lesson here for all of us!’
The post quickly drew criticism from many users, including one who wrote: ‘That’s Robert Irwin, show some respect for the Crocodile Hunter’s son!’
”Random white boy’? That’s wildlife royalty. Put some respect on the Irwin name,’ another agreed.
Honestly, it really upset me to see someone dismiss Robert Irwin as ‘just a random white boy.’ It feels incredibly disrespectful. Before using someone’s image for a motivational post – especially online – shouldn’t you at least take the time to learn who they are and what they do? It just feels wrong to treat him like a prop in a LinkedIn post.
Others defended the fact that Robert was enjoying music from a culture different to his own.
One person commented, ‘Even if I don’t understand the lyrics – I listen to Bollywood and K-pop all the time – if the music is good, it’s good!’
‘I love how he is enjoying every moment with having a language barrier,’ someone else added.
Finally, Carlos spoke up to explain that they did know Robert, and were actually big fans of the Irwin family.
They quickly clarified, “It was Robert, I was just trying to make a point!” and then firmly stated, “Please don’t mess with my strong feelings for this family.”
Robert was clearly enjoying himself watching the New England Patriots and Seattle Seahawks compete for the championship.
He looked incredibly stylish with a cool black leather jacket – the kind you might see at the Super Bowl – worn open over a simple white t-shirt and black pants.
Robert wore cool sunglasses and seemed to be thoroughly enjoying himself at the crowded stadium.
While watching the game, Robert shared a series of selfies and posted, “Hi NFL, how’s it going? I just realized this is my first Super Bowl and my first NFL game ever!”
‘All I can say is whoa! Are they all like this? This is crazy, let’s go!’
Robert’s female fans flooded the comments with praise, complimenting both his looks and his approachable personality.
‘So hot,’ one fan gushed.
Okay, so Robert’s ‘Dancing With The Stars’ partner, Witney Carson, just posted the cutest message! She’s clearly rooting for the New England Patriots and is so excited for him – it’s adorable! As someone who loves seeing positive energy, I’m all about this supportive vibe!
Someone commented, ‘You look great, Robert!’ and another enthusiastically agreed, saying, ‘I absolutely love this!’
