Henry Cavill appeared healthy and fit while filming scenes for the Highlander remake with Dave Bautista at London’s Westminster Abbey on Sunday night.
Henry Cavill, 42, returned to filming after recovering from an injury he sustained while preparing for a fantasy movie, which had paused production last year.
Henry, the actor who plays the immortal Connor MacLeod, appeared injured with bruises and blood after filming a scene where he and another actor were suspended by wires.
He was wearing a leather jacket with combat trousers and a dark hoodie, revealing a bit of chest hair beneath the open front.
Dave, 57, known for his role in Guardians of the Galaxy, transformed into a frightening figure while portraying the villain The Kurgan. He convincingly played the blood-soaked priest as originally depicted by Clancy Brown in the 1986 film.
He had a full beard and long hair combed back, giving him the look of a modern, updated barbarian warrior.
The actors performed a dangerous stunt where they hung from a car as their colleague, Siobhan Cullen, raced past on a motorcycle.
Even though they played enemies on TV, Dave and Henry seemed to be having a good time together and laughed when the cameras weren’t filming.
In the first Highlander film, directed by Russell Mulcahy, Christopher Lambert starred as Connor MacLeod, a Scottish warrior from the 1500s who learns he can’t die—except if his head is cut off.
He learns about the hidden world of immortals from Juan Sánchez-Villalobos Ramírez, a master swordsman famously played by the late Sean Connery.
The film went on to spawn a hugely successful TV series of the same name.
The new film stars Russell Crowe, Marisa Abela, Karen Gillan, and Jeremy Irons. Chad Stahelski, the director of all the John Wick films, is directing.
In April 2024, at CinemaCon, Henry spoke about starring as MacLeod and shared that he was preparing extensively for the film. He mentioned drawing on his experience with the battle sequences from his Netflix series, The Witcher, to help him get ready.
He said: ‘If you thought you’d seen me do sword work before, you haven’t seen anything yet.’
The Highlander story started with a fantasy movie in 1986 and continued as a TV show, spanning the late 20th and early 21st centuries.
The story expanded into a larger franchise, including four movies, two live-action TV shows, and several original books.
The film, which depicts the epic final battle of a long-standing war between immortal fighters, was filmed on location in several scenic areas of Scotland, such as Eilean Donan Castle, Glen Coe, Glen Nevis, Loch Shiel, Torridon, and the Isle of Skye.
Although the fantasy movie wasn’t successful in theaters when it first came out, it later became popular on video and DVD, leading to four sequels and three television series.
Following a significant increase in bets on Aaron Taylor-Johnson as the potential next James Bond, Henry Cavill remains a strong contender in the ongoing speculation.
Betting odds shifted significantly after the actor known for playing Godzilla strongly suggested he might be the next James Bond.
Aaron recently partnered with Omega, the official watch of the James Bond films, which excited many movie fans.
After the news broke, bets on Aaron Taylor-Johnson to be the next James Bond tripled on Thursday, compared to the previous two weeks, according to Oddschecker.
Betting odds for the 35-year-old have significantly dropped, and he’s now close to becoming the second most likely candidate, just behind Henry.
