The first season of the Prime Video series The Terminal List, starring Chris Pratt, was a strong start, and the show has a lot of potential for future seasons and stories. The series is based on the books by Jack Carr, a thrilling espionage story following Navy SEAL James Reece.

What Is The Terminal List About?
In The Terminal List, Reece embarks on a dangerous quest for revenge after a mission goes terribly wrong, resulting in the deaths of his teammates and putting his family in danger. As he investigates, Reece uncovers a conspiracy involving his superiors and realizes he’s been targeted due to a hidden part of his past he can’t remember.
Over eight gripping and surprising episodes, Reece, played by Pratt, seeks help from a diverse range of people – including journalists, CIA agents, and even the Secretary of Defense – as he tries to uncover the truth. But he quickly realizes he can’t rely on everyone he turns to, which makes this fast-paced thriller even more unpredictable.
The Terminal List Is Already A Franchise

Antoine Fuqua, who directed and executive produced The Magnificent Seven, brought us The Terminal List. The show quickly became popular on Prime Video after its release in July 2022. Because of its success, a second season was ordered in 2023, and a prequel series, The Terminal List: Dark Wolf, followed in August 2025.
Although The Terminal List received mixed reviews, its sequel, The Terminal List: Dark Wolf, was much better received by critics, earning a 75% rating on Rotten Tomatoes. This new series is grimmer than the first and explores the origins of the villain who surprised viewers in season one.
The Terminal List Can Be A Recurrent Prime Video Franchise
It was challenging for The Terminal List: Dark Wolf to engage viewers because they already knew the outcome. As the main character was established as the villain in season one of The Terminal List, audiences knew they wouldn’t die, couldn’t be redeemed, and were destined for a tragic end – their death was always part of the plan.
The positive reception of The Terminal List: Dark Wolf suggests the show’s creator, Jack Carr, could build a successful franchise for Prime Video. This unexpectedly popular spinoff demonstrates that The Terminal List can confidently expand its universe with either more main series installments or additional spinoffs.
