Gordon Ramsay has publicly expressed his approval of his new son-in-law, Adam Peaty, calling him a remarkably impressive person.
The 59-year-old celebrity chef gave his daughter Holly away at her wedding at Bath Abbey last month. The event was complicated by a family dispute, resulting in his parents being uninvited and only his sister Bethany present from his immediate family.
Gordon recently praised the British Olympic swimmer, describing them as a true gentleman and remarkably down-to-earth in a new interview with OK! Magazine.
Gordon described Adam as a truly classy and humble person. He emphasized that despite being an Olympic champion, Adam remains down-to-earth and doesn’t have an inflated ego.
Regarding the strained relationship with Adam’s parents, the chef explained that it’s simply hurtful. He feels the issues were entirely caused by their actions, as they’ve always been welcoming and haven’t done anything to deserve the conflict – something he notes hasn’t been reported or acknowledged by others. He specifically denies any rudeness or disrespect on their part.
We went all out for them, sending a car with a driver to pick them up for the engagement party and making them feel incredibly special. That’s why the negative press that followed was so upsetting. Tana was particularly hurt by it.
Gordon explained that he wasn’t responsible for disinviting Adam’s parents from the wedding and expressed hope they could eventually resolve their differences and move forward.
The celebrity also shared that he constantly worries about losing everything he’s achieved, a fear stemming from his childhood growing up on a low-income housing estate in Stratford-upon-Avon.
Adam’s family, with whom he’s currently estranged, have reportedly accused Gordon of being a bully. This follows Gordon’s statement that the swimmer’s family issues were his own fault.
Gordon Ramsay previously stated to the Daily Mail that he and his wife, Tana, hadn’t done anything wrong and had always treated the Peaty family with great respect, despite what some reports have claimed. You can find the complete interview here.
However, a family member has disputed Gordon Ramsay’s statement, calling it untrue, and suggesting he’s now gone too far in his dealings with the family.
They said: ‘How bl***y dare they. The sheer gall of them’.
The Ramsays weren’t kind to Caroline; they completely dismissed her. They acted as if she didn’t matter, and Mrs. Ramsay never even bothered to reply to her messages.
They also revealed that the celebratory lunch promised after the engagement never actually happened.
The Daily Mail have contacted Gordon Ramsay’s representatives for comment.
According to reports, the family has lost hope of repairing their relationship with their son following a recent post he made on social media.
In a comment on Adam’s wedding video, the chef jokingly called himself ‘dad,’ responding to the Olympian’s heartfelt message that he’d ‘always choose’ his wife, Holly.
A source close to the family told The Sun it’s been a difficult and emotional period. They are still processing the situation and accepting that Adam has made his decision.
This has completely ruined any chance of them getting back together soon. Both sides are now focused on moving forward and avoiding further conflict. It’s obvious Adam has decided what he wants and isn’t looking back.
I just saw the sweetest wedding video of Adam’s on Instagram! Gordon left the most heartwarming comment – he wrote, ‘Beautiful words @adamramsaypeaty, true love! Congratulations, love you both so much, Dad.’ It really captured the emotion of the day, and it was so lovely to see such a proud dad expressing his joy.
The Daily Mail has contacted Adam’s reps for comment.
A family argument unfortunately dampened the couple’s wedding day. According to The Sun, the father of the bride, Gordon, complimented Holly’s appearance and told Adam he was fortunate to be marrying her. He then referenced his wife, Tana, implying Adam would have a similar future with her.
The article reported that Gordon made a hurtful comment to his daughter, Holly, about her father Adam’s parents, saying, ‘It’s a shame you don’t have the same [parents].’
After the event, it came out that swimmer Adam’s mother was deeply upset and offended by Gordon mentioning their long-running family conflict during his speech.
According to a family insider, the celebrity chef’s remark in the speech deeply upset her. They believe the comment was deliberately intended to hurt her feelings and described it as both cruel and very painful.
I’ve been following Gordon’s story, and I was really struck by his recent appearance on This Morning. He really stood by what he said at the wedding, emphasizing that, in his opinion, his speech was exactly as it should have been – heartfelt and genuine.
He admitted it was a really emotional experience. As a father of three daughters, he’d always imagined their wedding days, but when it actually happened, he was completely overwhelmed.
The speech went really well – it was spot on. You need to connect with people, be genuine and show emotion. It’s a challenging task, though.
Tilly shared that she’d secretly heard the speech before it was given. She remembered being in her father’s room on Christmas Eve, listening as he practiced it for about an hour.
‘Going through everything but no tweaks were needed, it was perfect. It made everybody cry.’
Even though Caroline was furious, Holly stood by her father’s speech, explaining that it had made her incredibly happy.
Holly told British Vogue about a happy moment during Gordon’s speech, sharing a photo of herself and Adam smiling and laughing together.
She described listening to her father’s speech, glancing around at the guests, and being deeply moved by the love and joy she saw on everyone’s faces.
Holly recently shared that her parents covered the cost of her and Adam’s honeymoon in Mauritius, a lavish trip costing £6,000 per night. This comment seemed to be another dig at her strained relationship with her in-laws, the Peaty family.
She posted several photos from the wedding with a fashion magazine, including a slightly uncomfortable picture of Holly and Adam with her parents and David and Victoria Beckham.
Since Adam’s parents couldn’t make it to the wedding, they posed for a photo with the groom, joined by Gordon and Tana, and Holly.
During his speech, Adam focused on his swim coach, Mel Marshall, calling her his biggest support and source of inspiration, and didn’t talk about his family or parents. He credited her with keeping him grounded and motivated.
The family disagreement started in September 2024 when Adam and Holly didn’t invite many of their relatives to their engagement party, causing hurt feelings.
Despite driving her son to countless early morning practices for years, Caroline wasn’t included in Holly’s fancy hen party at Soho Farmhouse. The bride’s mother, Tana, and friends like Victoria, were all there, though.
