Myleene Klass admits she’s ‘dragging her heels’ on getting married to partner Simon Motson as she pokes fun at their five year engagement

Myleene Klass has confirmed she and her fiancé, Simon Motson, don’t have any wedding plans currently, even though they’ve been engaged for more than five years.

The 47-year-old television and radio personality has been in a relationship with public relations expert Simon, 49, for eleven years. Simon proposed in August 2020 with a 7.6-carat black diamond ring.

Myleene recently joked about her and her partner’s long engagement, but confessed they currently have no plans to get married.

She joked that she wasn’t sure what the longest engagement ever was, but this one might be a contender. ‘It feels like we’ve all been delaying things, haven’t we?’ she added.

Myleene Klass and Simon Neil have a six-year-old son named Apollo. Myleene also has two daughters, Ava, 18, and Hero, 14, whom she raised on her own since her split from their father, Graham Quinn, in 2013.

She admitted that her daughters are desperate to see her walk down the aisle again. 

She shared that Hero would be thrilled to hear the question about marriage, as Hero frequently asks her the same thing, according to Hello! magazine.

When asked if the wedding will be this year, an unsure Myleene replied: ‘Maybe, I don’t know.’

I enjoy being able to dress up and perform concerts, so a special or unique ceremony would really appeal to me.

Oh, it still gets me thinking about Myleene and Graham. They were together for twelve years! Can you believe it? Then, of all days, her birthday in 2013, he just…left her. After only six months of being married! It’s just awful, honestly. I still can’t get over it.

She raised her girls as a single mother until she met Simon in 2015.

The actress said last year that she felt empowered by being able to make all the decisions about raising her daughters on her own, explaining how proud she was to fulfill both the roles of mother and father for them.

Myleene related her experiences to those of her friends and her fiancé, Simon, who is also a parent. Simon has a 17-year-old son and a 13-year-old daughter with his ex-partner, Anna Walton.

She shared a detailed post explaining her circumstances, along with a clip from her recent appearance on Loose Women. In the video, she discussed her partner and what she needed in a relationship as a mother raising children alone.

Dating when you’re a single mom is really challenging. You have to balance taking care of your kids with also looking after your own needs.

I recognize I’m fortunate to be raising my children as a single parent, and being financially independent has made things much easier. It allows me to make my own decisions about their upbringing and guide them in the direction we both feel is best, which has been incredibly empowering for both me and my daughters.

Honestly, being a single parent to my daughters and fulfilling both parental roles is what I’m most proud of. It can be daunting, but there are times when navigating it all on my own feels surprisingly manageable.

Myleene then shared how her situation was similar to many others who need to discuss parenting decisions with ex-partners, and she went on to talk about the increasing number of blended families.

Many of her friends who co-parent, including her fiancé, have faced different situations, but blended families are becoming increasingly common. While combining families can be difficult, recognizing that the traditional nuclear family is no longer the norm helps to reduce the stigma and allows everyone to work through challenges and build a successful life together.

Myleene finished by celebrating all stepparents, including her own fiancé, saying, ‘Thank you to those who consistently step up and show children they are loved and cherished.’
