Christopher Nolan’s new fantasy film, The Odyssey, isn’t out for several months, but the first review is already in. Jonathan Nolan, who often works with his brother, the director, recently called the Matt Damon-starring movie “tremendous” after seeing it.

I recently heard from the younger Nolan brother about his early look at The Odyssey, and honestly, it sounds incredible. It’s still a good five months before it comes out in theaters, but he shared his thoughts, and I’m already hyped!

Jonathan Nolan confirmed he isn’t involved with the film The Odyssey, but he’s seen it and thinks it’s fantastic. He shared that he was a fan of both The Iliad and The Odyssey growing up, and he’s had interesting discussions with director Chris about the direction of the movie, calling it a spectacular accomplishment.

When someone asked if he’d seen his brother’s new movie, the co-creator of Westworld responded, “I probably shouldn’t say, but it’s amazing.”

Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey is a retelling of the classic Greek story about King Odysseus (played by Matt Damon). After years fighting in the Trojan War, Odysseus begins a long and dangerous journey home to his wife and son in Ithaca. Along the way, he encounters mythical creatures and overcomes numerous challenges in his quest to reunite with his family.

Besides Damon, who plays King Odysseus, the film The Odyssey has a remarkable cast. It also stars Tom Holland, Anne Hathaway, Robert Pattinson, Lupita Nyong’o, Zendaya, Charlize Theron, Jon Bernthal, Benny Safdie, John Leguizamo, Himesh Patel, Mia Goth, and Travis Scott, to name a few.

The Odyssey will premiere in theaters worldwide on July 17, 2026.
