Everyone is eagerly awaiting The Odyssey, especially since it’s the new film from Christopher Nolan, the director of the hugely successful Oppenheimer. Although the movie isn’t out for another five months, early reactions are starting to come in.
While it comes from Christopher Nolan’s brother, Jonathan, so it might be a bit biased, the news has still made us even more eager to see the movie and its impressive cast.
He described The Odyssey as “tremendous” and “an incredible achievement” in an interview with CinemaBlend. He shared that he was a fan of both the Iliad and The Odyssey growing up, and he enjoyed discussing the film’s direction with Chris. Ultimately, he called it a spectacular movie.

Jonathan has collaborated with his brother on several films, including co-writing popular titles like Interstellar, The Dark Knight, and The Prestige. You might assume he’s promoting another project he’s involved in, but he’s confirmed that isn’t the case this time.
He admitted to having watched the entire film, though he suspects it wasn’t the final cut since the release date is still some time away. He described it simply as “tremendous.”
It would take too long to list everyone in The Odyssey, but Matt Damon plays the main role of Odysseus, the famous king of Ithaca. The story follows his epic journey home after the Trojan War.
Okay, so this movie is shaping up to be HUGE. The cast is absolutely stacked – we’re talking Tom Holland, Anne Hathaway, Robert Pattinson, Lupita Nyong’o, Zendaya, Charlize Theron, Jon Bernthal, Himesh Patel, Mia Goth… honestly, the list just keeps going! It’s got pretty much everyone in it.
If you missed the special IMAX preview of The Odyssey in December, the only video available online is the trailer that came out right before Christmas.
We were hoping to see a new trailer during the Super Bowl, but Universal Pictures hasn’t released one yet.
The Odyssey is released in cinemas on 17 July.
