As a huge fan of Wizards of Waverly Place, I was so thrilled to see Selena Gomez and David DeLuise back together! They shared some adorable photos on Instagram this weekend, 14 years after our favorite show wrapped up. It really brought back so many memories!
Oh my gosh, I just saw the most amazing pictures! Selena, my Selena, looked absolutely radiant! She was out with David Henrie, who played her dad, Jerry Russo, on Wizards of Waverly Place! They were together, and she just seemed so happy! It totally made my day seeing them together, like a real family. Seriously, she’s glowing!
The photos show Selena and David with Shannon, the show’s previous wardrobe stylist, and their co-star Jennifer Stone, who played Harper Finkle.
Peter Murrieta, the show’s lead writer, was also at the gathering, and photos showed him with his arms around his colleagues.
The stars seemed to have a wonderful reunion, sharing laughs and catching up after almost 15 years since they last worked together.
David shared a post saying he had a wonderful night filled with laughter, love, and family fun. He called it the best reunion ever and said it was great to reconnect with everyone.
Wizards of Waverly Place was a Disney Channel show that ran for four seasons, from 2007 to 2012.
The Disney Channel movie, Wizards of Waverly Place: The Movie, came out in 2009 and went on to win an Emmy Award for best children’s program in 2010.
In 2013, a year after the series finale, the cast reunited for a TV special titled ‘The Wizards Return: Alex vs. Alex’.
Earlier this year, Selena talked about her experiences on the Disney Channel show ‘Wizards of Waverly Place’ during an interview on the ‘Wizards of Waverly Pod’ podcast with David DeLuise and Jennifer Stone.
Looking back on my time shooting the show, it’s funny how much I relied on certain people! I definitely felt the nerves, but honestly, as long as David DeLuise was around, I instantly felt calm and knew I could handle anything. I really couldn’t have done it without that support – it’s hard to even picture doing it any other way!
Initially, I resisted the idea of forming a new family because I already felt a strong connection with the people in my life. It turned out that I found exactly the support system I needed. Feeling safe and secure is something I rarely experience, so that meant a lot to me.
She shared that what she appreciated most was the genuine love and unwavering trust she felt from everyone, and she deeply misses that connection.
During her time on the show, Selena said she felt happier than ever before, and she didn’t want to remember those times with sadness. She was truly grateful for that period in her life, considering it the happiest she’d ever been.
I understand things are different now because I’m getting a lot more attention than I used to. That earlier time felt simpler and more genuine, and I really miss that feeling.
The original series also featured Jake T. Austin, who played Max Russo, and Jennifer Stone, who played a friend of Selena’s character.
Dan Benson had also taken on a role in the show and played the character of Zeke Beakerman.
He believes he wasn’t invited to be in the new ‘Wizards of Waverly Place’ with Selena Gomez because of his work in the adult film industry.
The former Disney Channel star said he’s thrilled fans are getting to revisit a beloved part of their childhood, but he’s disappointed he probably won’t be able to return to his role on the show.
He told TMZ he’s absolutely not involved and understands why. He acknowledged he made decisions that led to this outcome.
