Eric Bana made a comeback to TV in 2025 with the show Untamed, a crime drama set in the American West. Although originally planned as a short, six-episode series, Netflix unexpectedly decided to renew it for more episodes.
According to Tudum, a second season of Untamed is already being filmed. The first season launched on July 17, 2025, and quickly became a hit with viewers.
It wasn’t a huge surprise when Netflix made the move. Their latest report, ‘What We Watched: A Netflix Engagement Report,’ showed that while Stranger Things Season 5 led with 93.5 million views, other shows weren’t far behind.
Although Untamed previously focused on solving a mystery in Yosemite, the next installment will take place in Hawaii. Netflix has confirmed that Special Agent Kyle Turner, played by Eric Bana, will investigate a new case at Hawai’i Volcanoes National Park.
Mark L. Smith and Elle Smith, the creators and executive producers of the show, said the new season will take viewers to a different national park with unique scenery and culture. They also hinted that the character Turner will be facing new challenges and be in a different headspace, away from his familiar surroundings in Yosemite.
Elle Smith explained that each national park has its own unique history and landscape. She found it particularly interesting to follow Turner’s experiences as a way to discover these different parks and what makes each one special.
The show’s creators confirmed that Hawaii isn’t the first national park the main character visits after the events in Yosemite. Season 2 picks up a year and a half later, and he’s been working hard, traveling to many parks and handling numerous cases in the meantime.
Despite the change in location, the show’s creators assured fans it will still feel the same. They emphasized that the park itself will be a central, almost living, element of the story.
In Season 2, Turner continues to deal with the loss of his son, but the show will explore how he’s moving forward and coping with his grief.
Currently, no other actors have been officially announced for the project, and it’s unknown if anyone else from the original cast will return.
Untamed Season 2 doesn’t have a release date yet, but Season 1 is streaming on Netflix.
