Lewis Capaldi thanks Taylor Swift after she cast him in her star-studded Opalite music video as a photographer

Lewis Capaldi expressed his gratitude to Taylor Swift for including him in her new ‘Opalite’ music video, where he played the role of a photographer.

The popular singer, age 36, thrilled her fans with her new music video, which featured surprise appearances from all the guests she’d shared the stage with on The Graham Norton Show last year.

Taylor Swift joined Lewis Capaldi, Domhnall Gleeson, Cillian Murphy, Jodie Turner-Smith, and Greta Lee as a guest on Graham Norton’s UK talk show.

You won’t believe what happened backstage at the show! The incredibly talented Domhnall Gleeson, being the funny guy he is, playfully mentioned wanting to be in a Taylor Swift music video. It was such a lighthearted moment, but honestly, it sparked an idea for Taylor! She really seemed to consider it, and who knows, we might just see him on screen with her someday!

Scottish singer Lewis Capaldi, who appeared on the show, played the role of a photographer capturing pictures of Taylor Swift and Domhnall Gleeson in the video.

On Saturday, Lewis posted several photos from the music video on Instagram, writing, ‘Thank you for having me, Taylor! ❤️x’

The new video, which has a nineties theme, was released yesterday and features Domhnall, age 42, as the romantic partner for Taylor’s character, who is 36.

The story begins by showing the unusual connections each character has – Domhnall with a cactus, and Taylor with a rock. They eventually find each other thanks to a special spray bottle called Opalite.

Brendan Graham, age 62, is featured in a commercial for one spray product, and Cillian Murphy, 49, appears in an advertisement for Opalite.

Lewis, age 29, stars as a photographer. Greta, 42, and Jodie, 39, appear as images on old-fashioned television sets.

Taylor shared on Instagram that the concept for her music video came to her while she was a guest on BBC1’s ‘The Graham Norton Show’ in October.

The singer was present to publicize her new album, ‘The Life Of A Showgirl,’ featuring the song ‘Opalite’.

On Friday, she shared that during a recent broadcast, Domhnall jokingly said he’d like to appear in one of her music videos.

Honestly, he’s Irish, so I initially took it as playful banter. But then, right in the middle of our conversation, it hit me – a fantastic idea! It was a total lightbulb moment.

A week after the performance, Taylor emailed Domhnall a script she’d written for the Opalite video, envisioning him as the lead actor.

She explained that she’d imagined it would be fun if everyone who was on the Graham Norton show that night – including Graham himself – could collaborate on something together. She described it as a voluntary group project for adults.

Taylor said she had an incredible time working on the project. She enjoyed making new friends and exploring creative ideas, from the story’s themes to the characters’ styles. Bringing the story to life was a truly exciting experience for her.

Taylor was thrilled that everyone who was on the show, including the host Graham, was able to participate in the photoshoot.

Her appearance on The Graham Norton Show and the release of her album, Life of a Showgirl, both happened on October 3rd.

Throughout the show, she displayed her engagement ring and discussed potential wedding plans with her fiancé, Travis Kelce.

You’ll understand when the time comes. I want to focus on the album first, and then we’ll start planning the wedding,” she explained to Graham.

‘I think it will be fun to plan.’

The new music video was a huge hit with fans, who especially loved the ’90s-inspired style and the singer’s vintage clothing. Many described the vibe as fantastic and exciting.

People watching the video seemed very focused on a single detail: the woman on a swing with a rock, and her posing with a group of aerobic dancers.

The item is an ivory sweatshirt with a cat on front. The feline is clinging to a tree limb.

Fans are enthusiastically praising a new sweatshirt online. One person on X said it’s “meowfully wonderful” and they’re obsessed, while another exclaimed they’re “going cats over this top” and urgently wants to know where to purchase it.

Taylor Swift loves cats and has three of them: Meredith Grey and Olivia Benson, both Scottish Folds, and Benjamin Button, a Ragdoll. She named them after characters from her favorite shows and movies – Meredith Grey from Grey’s Anatomy, Olivia Benson from Law & Order: SVU, and Benjamin Button from the film The Curious Case of Benjamin Button.
