G2 Esports barely made it into the Playoffs with a crucial final victory – they were just one map away from being eliminated! Overall, the group stage of this Rainbow Six Siege world cup showed that some less-expected teams are strong contenders, while some of the favored teams have weaknesses.

The four groups at the 2026 Six Invitational were initially seen as preparation for the main Playoffs event. However, the matches proved to be surprisingly challenging for some teams, while others found them very successful.

G2 Esports on the verge of elimination

G2’s performance in the Six Invitational 2026 group stage was very disappointing. They barely avoided finishing last in their group, needing a remarkable turnaround to stay in contention.

G2 faced tough competition from FaZe Clan, but overall, their group wasn’t too challenging for a team of their caliber. They reached the grand final of the R6 Siege X Esports World Cup 2025, finished second in the EML 2025 Regional Finals, and currently rank third globally for the season.

G2 Esports had a tough start to the 2026 Six Invitational, losing their first two matches against Shopify Rebellion and Black Dragons. They managed to secure a win against Dplus, keeping their chances alive for a final-round qualification.

G2 and FaZe Clan battled in a crucial match where G2 narrowly lost the first map in overtime. They then powerfully responded with a 7-0 victory on Lair, securing their spot in the competition with a win on the third map.

Fans were disappointed with the team’s performance. After advancing to the lower bracket of the Six Invitational Playoffs, Rainbow Six Siege X G2 Esports now face a situation where every match could mean elimination.

Weibo Gaming were amazing!

I have to say, Weibo Gaming really impressed me! They’re from Asia, and teams from that region often have a tough time at major international Rainbow Six tournaments. But Weibo came out swinging, winning all four of their matches! They even beat Ninjas in Pyjamas 2-0 and took down M80 – the team that just won the Munich Major – 2-1. It was amazing to watch!

The highest placement for Weibo Gaming last year was the top 8 at the R6 EWC 2025.

Wildcard and Secret are at the top!

These teams winning their groups highlights a clear change in the competitive landscape of Rainbow Six Siege. European and North American teams are now proving to be incredibly strong rivals for Brazil.

Wildcard performed exceptionally well, finishing in the top four at both the Munich Major and the RE:LO:AD tournament. They continued their success at the Six Invitational Groups, where they upset several top contenders like FURIA and Falcons.

Team Secret won the Rainbow Six Siege X EWC 2025 championship. While they hadn’t performed as well in other major tournaments – finishing in the top 6 at both the EML 2025 Regional Finals and the Munich Major – they ultimately claimed the championship title.

This time, Secret dominated their group, including wins over Spacestation Gaming and Fluxo W7M.

Difficulties for M80 and Team Falcons

The grand final of the R6 Munich Major 2025 featured a match between Falcons and M80 – both teams considered strong contenders for the Six Invitational, according to top esports betting sites. However, they both faced some challenges during the initial Group Stage.

M80 lost matches against both Weibo Gaming and FEARX. This second defeat is particularly tough for the team, who recently won the Munich Major, as FEARX also failed to make it to the playoffs for the 2026 Six Invitational. Despite these losses, M80 can still be proud of their wins against NiP and Team Heretics.

Team Falcons finished first overall on the season leaderboard for 2025-2026. They won the 2025 Regional Finals and placed second in Munich. At the Six Invitational 2026 group stage, they faced defeats against Wildcard and FURIA, but secured wins against less favored opponents.

FaZe Clan to lead Brazilian R6 Siege X esports

FaZe Clan won the Six Invitational 2025 after topping their group and achieving the best performance of any Brazilian team. Their only loss was to G2 Esports, which kept G2 in the running for the championship.

As a big FURIA fan, I was so hyped when they won RE:LO:AD 2025! Sadly, that turned out to be their last major win before the Six Invitational. They had a mixed run in the Groups stage – they beat Team Falcons, which was awesome, but then lost a tough match against Wildcard.

Fluxo W7M is a newly formed esports team created by the merging of two organizations. They had an impressive run at the Six Invitational Groups, with their only defeat coming against Team Secret.

Ninjas in Pyjamas were close to elimination, as they had only one win in the Groups, over FEARX.

Four teams are out of the Six Invitational 2026

The Group Stage was especially difficult for some teams. Rainbow Six esports is highly competitive, and those who were eliminated showed remarkable sportsmanship and resilience!

FEARX managed to defeat M80 during their run. This win clearly shows their potential.

Elevate faced a tough tournament, but they played well against some strong teams. They went to overtime against Falcons on the first map and managed to win on Border against Wildcard.

Black Dragons were close to making the Playoffs. They won against G2 Esports, and the outcome of the match between G2 and FaZe would determine their final position.

The ENTERPRISE Esports team has plenty to think about after this tournament. While not winning a single map was tough, it’s a valuable learning experience that will help them improve.

The Group Stage matches were just a warm-up for the intense competition ahead at the Six Invitational 2026 Playoffs. Teams need to analyze what they learned and concentrate on winning the championship.
