‘Good Luck, Have Fun, Don’t Die’ Goes Meta With AI Ticket Offer

Okay, this is a cool move by Briarcliff Entertainment, the distributor of this new movie called Good Luck, Have Fun, Don’t Die. They’re giving away free tickets to anyone who’s lost their job because of AI – seriously! The film’s directed by Gore Verbinski, who you might know from the Pirates of the Caribbean films (he recently said he’s done with those, by the way). It’s a sci-fi action-comedy about a guy from the future who’s trying to rally some folks from a Los Angeles diner to help him fight this rogue, intelligent technology. And the cast is fantastic – Sam Rockwell (The White Lotus), Juno Temple (Fargo), Michael Peña (End of Watch), Haley Lu Richardson (After Yang), Zazie Beetz (Joker), and Asim Chaudhry (Black Mirror) are all in it. I’m definitely checking this one out!

Briarcliff Entertainment’s statement reads:

If you’ve lost your job due to artificial intelligence, the team behind the new film Good Luck, Have Fun, Don’t Die wants to offer you a free movie ticket. Briarcliff Entertainment believes those affected by the rise of AI deserve a little something back. Share your story of job displacement – whether you were replaced, sidelined, or let go in the name of progress – and receive a pair of complimentary tickets.

CEO Tom Ortenberg noted that it’s fitting for those directly affected by AI to see a film about its impact, and encouraged interested parties to learn more at https://bit.ly/therevolutionstarts. The company’s gift of movie tickets to former employees has sparked mixed reactions online. Some praised the gesture as genuine support, while others criticized it as a superficial attempt to address deeper issues like job displacement, arguing that policy changes and retraining programs are what’s truly needed. Ultimately, it seems impossible to satisfy everyone.

Is Gore Verbinski’s New Movie Even Worth the Trip?

As a total cinema lover, I’m really excited about Good Luck, Have Fun, Don’t Die coming out this Friday, February 13th! It looks like Gore Verbinski is making a fantastic return to Hollywood – with 45 reviews in, it’s currently at a whopping 93% on Rotten Tomatoes. After the buzz from Fantastic Fest last year, MovieWeb‘s Mark Keizer is urging everyone to ditch their phones and just enjoy Sam Rockwell saving the world – and honestly, that sounds perfect.

Here’s a taster of his review, which gives the movie a big thumbs-up…

It’s been way too long since Verbinski last directed a film – 2016’s A Cure for Wellness feels like ages ago! He’s such a uniquely imaginative big-budget director, and we’ve been missing out. With Good Luck…, he really seems to be letting loose. Honestly, the movie is wonderfully chaotic – almost to the point of spinning out of control with all its wild ideas. Verbinski doesn’t seem too concerned with tying everything up neatly, but thankfully Sam Rockwell is there to ground it. Rockwell is fantastic, completely embracing the role of a charmingly eccentric character, and he manages to pull off a wonderfully manic performance that makes you believe this unlikely crew of Angelenos would actually help him with his crazy, long-shot mission.
