Taylor Swift invites celebrities who appeared with her on The Graham Norton Show to star in video for latest single Opalite

The idea hit her when she took a seat next to a slew of celebrities on Graham Norton’s red sofa.

How about inviting everyone – even Norton – to be in the music video for her new song?

So it was that Taylor Swift’s video for Opalite was born.

All six people invited – including Cillian Murphy from Oppenheimer, Domhnall Gleeson of Harry Potter fame, and singer Lewis Capaldi – have accepted.

The new music video, which has a nineties vibe, was released yesterday and features actor Gleeson, 42, playing the romantic partner to Taylor Swift’s character, who is 36.

The story begins with unusual connections: Gleeson forms a bond with a cactus, while Swift connects with a rock. They eventually find each other thanks to a special spray bottle called Opalite.

62-year-old Norton is featured in a commercial for a different spray, and 49-year-old Murphy appears in an ad for Opalite.

Twenty-nine-year-old actor Callum Scott Paterson (Capaldi) portrays a photographer in the film. Greta Lee, 42, and Jodie Turner-Smith, 39, appear as images on vintage television sets.

Taylor Swift shared on Instagram that the concept for her music video came to her while she was a guest on BBC1’s The Graham Norton Show in October.

I spotted the pop star backstage, and she was absolutely buzzing about her new album, ‘The Life Of A Showgirl’! She was especially excited to talk about ‘Opalite’, one of the standout tracks. It’s a really fun album, and I think everyone’s going to love it!

She shared that during a live conversation, Domhnall jokingly said he’d like to appear in one of her music videos.

He’s Irish, so he was just kidding! But then, right in that moment during the interview, I suddenly had a great idea.

The singer, who is engaged to football player Travis Kelce, also said she was thrilled that everyone from the show worked hard to recreate the 1990s for her music video. She added that it was the most fun she’s ever had.
