Gwyneth Paltrow shows support for ‘sister’ Lindsey Vonn as ski icon attempts first Olympic trial run after injury

As a lifestyle enthusiast, I loved seeing Gwyneth Paltrow so supportive of her close friend, Lindsey Vonn! It was really heartwarming to watch Lindsey make her comeback to skiing with Gwyneth cheering her on – talk about a power duo and a fantastic display of female friendship!

On Friday, February 6th, the actress used Instagram to support Vonn as she finished her first Olympic trial run since her ACL injury. Vonn confidently smiled at the finish line after completing the run, which lasted around 100 seconds.

Gwyneth Paltrow, 53, shared a photo of the three-time Olympic medalist on Instagram and wrote, ‘Love you so much, sister!’

‘May the wind be at your back and angels at your side [and knee],’ she added.

Alongside a photo of Vonn prepared to race, Paltrow simply wrote, ‘Let’s GO!’ as a message of encouragement.

Even though Lindsey Vonn, 41, severely injured her knee last week – suffering a full ACL tear, bone bruising, and meniscus damage – she plans to compete and has a chance to make Olympic history by winning a medal in one of the three Alpine skiing events.

Reese Witherspoon showed her support for Lindsey Vonn, posting a photo of the skier on Instagram with a message of encouragement: ‘I believe in you. @lindseyvonn.’

Vonn immediately replied with a touching message, saying she couldn’t ask for better friends or support.

Five-time Olympic medalist Lindsey Vonn is planning to compete in three events at the upcoming Winter Games: the women’s downhill on February 8th, the team event on February 10th, and the Super-G on February 12th. However, she’ll decide whether to continue after each race, based on how she feels.

Just yesterday, on Thursday, Vonn posted a video of herself working out with a brace on her left knee, and seemed determined to keep up her routine.

As a lifestyle expert, I’m always impressed by dedication, and this ski star just showed a ton of it! During her training, she powered through weighted squats, explosive jumps, and a serious set of flutter kicks. It’s clear she’s fully focused and ready to compete – she’s definitely in fighting shape!

‘I’m not giving up working as hard as I can to make it happen!’ Vonn wrote in the caption.

‘Thank you to my team and everyone for your incredible support. Keep believing.’

Lindsey Vonn is back after a scary crash on January 30th. She was flown by helicopter to the hospital after competing in her last downhill race in Switzerland.

The famous skier crashed after completing a jump, sliding into the safety netting. She stayed down for a few moments while medical personnel checked on her, but was eventually able to ski down the hill.

Reports indicate Vonn seemed to be holding her left knee and repeatedly paused to check it, favoring the leg as she limped.

After finishing her run, she embraced teammate Jacqueline Wiles and then went to a medical tent to be checked by doctors. She was later flown by helicopter from the Swiss Alps for further care.

Although this injury is a challenge, Lindsey Vonn is well-acquainted with overcoming setbacks, having dealt with numerous torn ACLs and other difficulties throughout her career.

After retiring from skiing in 2019, she was able to compete again thanks to a partial knee replacement with titanium in 2024. She believes the surgery was crucial to her comeback.
