Supergirl’s Puppy Bowl Video Release Date & Time Revealed

DC fans were hoping to see a trailer for the new Supergirl movie during the Super Bowl, but director James Gunn surprised everyone with something different. He released a fun promo video for Puppy Bowl starring Milly Alcock, who plays Supergirl in the film.

Milly Alcock hypes up Supergirl’s Puppy Bowl in new video

James Gunn recently shared a brief video on social media promoting DC’s partnership with Guide Dogs of America and Tender Loving Canines, timed to coincide with Sunday’s Puppy Bowl. The video features Milly Alcock, who stars as Supergirl, announcing the collaboration. Warner Bros., which is producing the Supergirl movie, also owns Animal Planet, the network broadcasting the Puppy Bowl.

Gunn shared how adorable the Puppy Bowl is, and let everyone know where and when to watch! You can tune in to Animal Planet on Sunday at 2pm Eastern Time or 11am Pacific Time. And if you’re a Supergirl fan, the movie hits theaters on June 26th.

Following the success of last year’s Superman-themed initiative, we’re continuing a feel-good tradition. This time, a group of Labrador puppies – Clark, Kara, Lois, Krypto, and Lobo – embodies our partnership. These adorable pups are being trained to become assistance dogs, providing support to people with vision loss, veterans with PTSD or traumatic brain injury, and children with autism.

Promoting Supergirl during the Puppy Bowl isn’t just a marketing tactic; it hints at a key part of the movie’s story. The film, directed by Craig Gillespie and coming out on June 26, 2026, is inspired by Tom King’s ‘Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow’ comic, but it’s not a strict retelling.

James Gunn described his upcoming film as a space fantasy, similar in tone to ‘Guardians of the Galaxy,’ but inspired by a Tom King story. While not a direct adaptation, it retains the story’s central themes. A key plot point involves the villain Krem seriously injuring Supergirl’s dog, Krypto. Gunn believes the Puppy Bowl is a great place to subtly introduce this emotional storyline and reach animal-loving fans before the film comes out this summer.
