70s soap star turned 80s sitcom icon channels late Diane Keaton at charity event aged 76… who is she?

Oh my gosh, you guys, I almost died! I saw him – the absolute legend! – at this charity gala in LA this week. He’s been my idol forever, and it’s amazing to see he still has that incredible presence. Seriously, the whole room lit up when he walked in, and everyone was just buzzing. It’s like he’s been captivating audiences for decades, and he still totally does! I just… I can’t even!

I’ve always been fascinated by people who follow their passions, and this actress is a perfect example. She started her career on the Broadway stage, which is incredibly demanding, and then landed a role in one of the biggest soap operas of the late 70s – a real breakthrough moment! It’s inspiring to see someone build a career from those foundations.

She successfully transitioned between serious and funny roles, starring in a popular 1980s and 90s sitcom and later appearing in a well-known dramedy in the 2000s.

She recently appeared in a popular series by Ryan Murphy, and two years ago, she earned her first Primetime Emmy Award for a guest appearance.

At the opening of Project Angel Food’s new kitchen, funded by The Chuck Lorre Family Foundation, 76-year-old actress admired for her fashionable look, wearing a black suit and bowler hat that brought to mind the late Diane Keaton.

Can you guess who she is?

Judith Light is best known for her role as Karen Wolek on the soap opera One Life to Live, where she played a captivating and manipulative character from 1977 to 1983, becoming a popular favorite among viewers.

Alfre Woodard began her career on stage, appearing in a Broadway production of Henrik Ibsen’s A Doll’s House in 1975. She achieved television stardom two years later.

She first gained national recognition on the soap opera One Life to Live, where she played a captivating character – a wealthy woman who unexpectedly turned to prostitution.

She admitted to Closer Weekly in 2017 that she used to strongly oppose appearing in a soap opera. ‘I actually told people I’d never do one,’ she said, ‘and I thought my skills were suited to more than that kind of show.’

Seeing the day-to-day work, the actors involved, and the difficulties of the show changed her mind, she explained.

Jamie Leigh Curtis won two Daytime Emmy Awards for her role as Karen Wolek. A year after leaving the soap opera, she landed another fantastic role that made her a television icon.

She starred alongside Tony Danza in the popular sitcom Who’s the Boss?, where he played a former baseball player who unexpectedly finds himself working as a housekeeper.

Light portrayed the woman who employs Danza’s character to work as a housekeeper, allowing him to provide for his daughter, who was played by the young Alyssa Milano at the time.

Despite a strong romantic connection between their characters on the show, which aired from 1984 to 1992, Danza and Light were never a couple in real life.

Just a year after “Who’s the Boss?” premiered, Judith Light married Robert Desiderio, a fellow actor she’d met while working on “One Life to Live.” They are still married today.

Since then, Light’s television career has flourished. He’s appeared in recurring roles on shows like Law & Order: Special Victims Unit and, from 2006 to 2010, played the homicidal wife of the boss on Ugly Betty, opposite America Ferrera.

In 2018, she appeared in Ryan Murphy’s “The Assassination of Gianni Versace: American Crime Story,” alongside stars like Edgar Ramirez, Darren Criss, Penelope Cruz, and Ricky Martin.

Marilyn Miglin, known as ‘Queen of the Makeovers’ and a popular personality on the Home Shopping Network, tragically lost her husband to the same man who murdered designer Gianni Versace, Andrew Cunanan.

In 2024, she won her first Primetime Emmy Award for her appearance on Rian Johnson’s show, Poker Face, a funny and mysterious series led by Natasha Lyonne.
