Neil Patrick Harris and his husband were seen with their daughter at a charity fashion show in New York City on Wednesday, marking a rare public appearance for the family.
Actor Neil Patrick Harris attended the 10th annual Blue Jacket Fashion Show with his husband, David Burtka, and their daughter, Harper Grace, who is 15 years old.
Oh my gosh, Neil Patrick Harris, the absolute dream, and David Burtka, who’s not only an amazing actor but a chef too?! They have the sweetest twins, Harper and Gideon! Harper has a twin brother, Gideon Scott, and honestly, the whole family is just perfection. I could seriously talk about them all day!
Neil Patrick Harris, 52, and his husband, David Burtka, 50, were all smiles with their teenage daughter on the red carpet. The couple, who married in 2014 and recently shared a New Year’s Day family photo with their twins, looked proud as they arrived at the event.
Their son, Gideon, did not appear to be present at the fashion show with them.
I was so thrilled to see the amazing turnout at Frederick Anderson’s event for ZERO Prostate Cancer! It was especially heartwarming to see all the fathers and daughters coordinating their outfits – they all looked fantastic in shades of dark green and black. It really showed how much they cared about the cause.
Harris was wearing a sophisticated, dark-green suede shirt. His partner chose a forest-green button-down and a black coat.
Their daughter, Harper, accompanied them to the runway show, wearing a see-through black top and letting her long blonde hair flow freely.
Don Lemon, a journalist recently arrested while covering a protest at a Minnesota church, was already scheduled to appear on the show to raise awareness for an important issue.
The former CNN anchor, who also went to the Grammy Awards last week, has often attended the charity fashion show.
I’m so excited for this year’s Blue Jacket fashion show! It’s incredible to think it’s already the 10th anniversary. What I love most is that it consistently shines a light on the really important issue of prostate cancer, and encourages everyone to learn about early detection – especially on World Cancer Day. It’s a fantastic event for a great cause.
Almost two years ago, Neil Patrick Harris and David Burtka shared how much they love being dads, and mentioned their teenage kids’ friends affectionately call them the ‘coolest parents’ among their group.
In 2024, as their children entered their teens, Harris described their relationship as ‘great’ in an interview with People magazine.
These kids are really impressive. Growing up in Manhattan, they seem quite mature for their age – they’re only thirteen – and it’s great to watch them explore the world as teenagers with a good understanding of themselves and how things work.
The actor went on to say that as parents, they really focus on teaching their children good values, and then they have to step back and let them live their own lives – and it’s wonderful to see them succeeding.
He added that he and his husband are ‘very proud of them.’
Harris shared how proud he is of their children and how much they both love being fathers. He also mentioned they’re still working on making their home a place where their kids and their friends like to spend time.
He said their school is incredibly demanding. They come straight home and immediately start their homework – it’s exhausting, honestly.
It’s not really a full-on party house just yet, though we do have playdates and sleepovers occasionally. But honestly, I’m hoping it will be someday! I think we’re getting there.
However, Burtka chimed in and proudly shared the compliment from their kids’ friends.
He said people tell them they’re the most fun parents among their friends. Harris playfully responded that she hadn’t known parenting was a contest.
As a parent, one of the best feelings is when your kids grow up and want to share their lives with you. It’s so reassuring to know they’ll come to you when things are happening, instead of shutting you out. Honestly, hearing that from my own kids is a really nice feeling – it means we’ve built a trusting relationship where they feel comfortable opening up.
Burtka believes that being open and sharing with others encourages them to reciprocate and be open with you in return.
