Margot Robbie’s Pirates of the Caribbean 6 Gets Major Update

There’s exciting news about Pirates of the Caribbean 6! Disney has shared a hint about who will be the main character in the next installment of the popular movie series. The studio has been working to bring the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise back, and previously considered a separate film starring Margot Robbie.

What’s the latest Pirates of the Caribbean 6 news?

Disney’s new CEO, Josh D’Amaro, and Dana Walden are focusing on bringing back the Pirates of the Caribbean movies. Sources say the studio is discussing a script for the sixth film with Krysty Wilson-Cairns, a screenwriter known for her work on the movie 1917.

He also shared that the new Pirates of the Caribbean film could focus on Jack Sparrow’s son, alongside a new female character. Margot Robbie, who was previously planned to star in a separate Pirates spin-off, is now expected to play this role. Disney wants to create a completely new and memorable character, imagining someone with the rebellious energy of Jack Sparrow mixed with the style of Cruella de Vil as portrayed by Emma Stone.

Reports surfaced last year suggesting Johnny Depp might reprise his role as Jack Sparrow in a smaller capacity in the sixth Pirates of the Caribbean film. However, it’s currently unknown if those plans are still in motion. Jerry Bruckheimer is still producing the next installment, and he’s stated they won’t proceed with a sequel unless they have a script they’re happy with. Before Craig Wilson-Cairns joined the project, Ted Elliott had already worked on a draft of the script for the reboot.

Jerry Bruckheimer mentioned they’re developing a screenplay. He emphasized that a movie can only include what’s written in the script. They initially had two script options, but ultimately decided to move forward with just one.
